Teen get's arrested for sarcast violent joke and may go to prison for 8 years.

Okay, this what I think about this;

Both are wrong in some aspects. That teenager took sarcasm too far (just like some people from my school do), but on the other hand, I think the Canadian woman really overreacted to the joke.

while i think 8 years is harsh, i agree with the prison sentence, or at the very least he should be given community service (if they have that in america?) and/or a fine. they need to put out the message that saying things like that isn't okay, and people are only going to stop if they'll get punished for it

Agreed, and yes, they do have community service in America.
