My entire answer post didn't save, so I'm gonna restart…I'll keep it brief.

1. 200 characters is so small. My bio is exactly 200 characters, and it is such a tiny field of text. If you double it, it still won't be that much.

2. I didn't say people didn't use their About Me. I said it's not something people are spending most of their time on. Scratch is about creating projects after all. And I didn't say this thread was silent. I said mostly silent, which is a fact. This thread is not picking up any attention. It's not that there's nothing to be added. It's just that everyone on this thread has been here for a while, and they have nothing to say because no one else is saying anything. Most of us are just sitting here talking in circles, because people are rarely gonna respond to us here. If this suggestion were as important to the majority of scratchers the way that the dark mode suggestion thread that's been super active for years is, we'd have more people sharing their opinions. This discussion isn't going anywhere solely because no new opinions are being added because all of us here have said our piece.

And please refrain from using quotes that way. Using my words like this:

is inconsiderate of my opinion and only makes you sound condescending. Every opinion matters, and it is not okay to make attacks on someone's own beliefs or ideas.

3. This would be true of maybe an individual programmer, but this is an MIT managed platform. MIT is a very selective school. Its acceptance rate is very low, and they have high standards for their students. Last I checked, their average GPA was around a 4.0. The school is made up of extremely intelligent students and faculty. People who can manage and improve a block language like this with features most block languages don't have. Let's not forget how they successfully incorporated cloud variables for online games into Scratch. I doubt a plagiarism detector is impossible for them.

4. I have a solution for that too. Scratch could prevent people from copypasting large bodies of text. They could make it so you could only copy paste text up to a certain size, so people could still use custom fonts and links in their bio.

Also, I'd suggest not sharing such websites. The less people who know of resources like this the better. By sharing it you allow people to access copyright violating material. I've removed it from the quote here as a precaution.

It's a movie script, people are bound to find it even if it isn't for the purpose of spam. Why should my linked movie script even exist if it breaks copyright law? It's because it doesn't. People can use it to reenact a play, you know.

There are a lot of websites like that out there. And to legally reenact a play, you still have to pay royalties for the right to do so. That's why high school adaptations of famous plays are much more accurate than middle school ones. They pay for the rights. When I was in 8th grade, my school was doing a version of the Greatest Showman, and it was very poorly scripted. I think it was a teachers-pay-teachers version.
This year, my school did Clue for the winter play. And it was from the actual movie, none of it was “dumbed-down” for kids. I hate how they do things like that in middle school plays, like they're elementary schoolers and can't handle mild themes.

Websites like that typically do not own rights or pay royalties based on how many people use a certain script. People can actually get in trouble for reposting things like that, even if they weren't the ones who pirated the material in the first place.

And I probably should've cleared this up sooner, but I was aware of most of the issues of infinite text, and the main reasons I brought it up are as follows:

1. To move this discussion forward, as we've been stuck in circles for months.
   
   
2. I felt that the limit increases currently being suggested were far too small. I was trying to suggest that we needed more.
   
   
3. The scratch team will ignore this if there hasn't been any progress. Quiet threads are not successful threads.
   
   
4. To bring attention to this issue by bumping it up.

There are plenty of things you could say in that take 400 comments. I've commented in more characters on projects, when listing things I like about a project. Or explaining my connection to an issue brought up by a project. Long comments aren't always spam, and you're more likely to get accused of spam if you split a big comment into 5 parts, and post them all at once.

That’s probably the reason why they cap the limit at 200, though I do think it can be increased a little. We don’t know how much scratch has to pay for the servers though.

I have forbidden word that allows you to have more characters in What I'm working on.
But there is a way to have more characters without it! Just use that more What I'm working on characters project by @World_Languages.

I seriously need more characters on my pf. It makes no sense that they're so limited, unlike projects. There are far more projects than profiles!!

Support! Even though that ST rejects the idea for more characters, this sounds like a great idea for profile sections. Although, this is rejected for projects, and other text boxes to prevent bad things from happening.

I have to go through multiple times of changing my profile’s about me and wiwo, and it’s very frustrating and tedious with the character limit set so low.

yeah isn't it annoying when you are putting somehing in your about me or wiwo and you run out of characters
