Change the Heart & Star Colors

So, the heart & star got an update. Now, they have a dark outline and pale inside. This is probably the most nitpicking nitpick, but I think they look uglier. The white inside and dark outline makes it look bad. I have no idea why this was done, but it should have been the heart & star being pure black if they wanted to do that. Not whatever they did here. The icons should be changed, but not reverted.

Update: Since this was made to help those with colorblindness, allow me to reword this. It'll be on by default, but there's a switch in the account settings for accessibility, which can change how the icons look. Or, alternatively, the heart/star can be completely black. I don't think that'll cause any problems.

Update Update: Okay, since toggles are unlikely to be added, how about removing the outline and making it entirely black? As stated above, that (I assume) shouldn't cause any problems for those with colorblindness. And it still looks better.

And that concludes my suggestion. It's a small and pointless request, but so is changing the colors to begin with. At least the outlines should be removed and the insides should be dark. That looks much better.

I don't see a problem, even if, not that big of deal to be honest.

It's an incredibly minor suggestion.

Same here, and I kinda like the fact that it's black like in 2.0. Kinda wish they made an option for just the outline or full black though, or just a way to change the color (kind of wanted that).

No.

They did this so that colorblind people can see the buttons better as the border is darker than the surroundings. You can see their changes here: https://github.com/LLK/scratch-www/pull/7264.

STOP ASKING FOR OPTIONS AND STICK TO AN OPINION
Okay, but I wish there was just an option to you know, change the color or something.

…Well okay that kinda makes sense actually, had no idea it was for that reason. Anyway this might not be implemented then, or it could be an accessibility option.

Wait, that's why? Oh. I should reword the original post to make an option to enable/disable it, then.

Semi-support, there should be an optional toggle to disable it.

There should be an entire new accessibility category in account settings for these things.

I think instead there should be a way to toggle the border and toggle the heart/star being black and grey, instead of reverting the update completely.

Yeah I know, though I think there should be an option for toggling between the non-border color too.

This I agree with. Knowing what is planned, what has happened, and what could happen, I can see this being a thing.

Change the Heart & Star Colors

This change makes it possible for colorblind users to tell the gray love/favorite icons apart from the colored icons. Since now they're outlined when inactive, users don't have to see color to tell if the icons were toggled. (Oh wait, someone already said that.)

The Scratch Team is also working on contrast, so it's understandable why they darkened the icons, too. All in all, I think it's a good step. Once you get used to it, you realize how it helps people.

An option for something as minor as to change what the heart and star buttons look like is unnecessary work for the Scratch Team and the community should instead accept the change and get used to it. They don't even look bad, I think a big reason people don't like them is simply that it's a change and that people will soon realise they look fine.

There is only this and the new block colours that have been announced for accessibility, so unless the Scratch Team plans more features on accessibility a menu for 2 accessibility toggles is not worth it, especially when one is so minor.

Scratch Team also seem to not like toggles, what actually is toggleable on this site?

meh. imo they dont rlly look bad or even different enough to warrant any kind of reversion or toggle or anything like that.

I guess that's true. But I don't see why they couldn't have made it pure black. I would be fine with the change had the inside look dark, not bright. I'm sure colorblindness doesn't make black look wrong (but I'm not colorblind, so who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

My grammar detector is going off the walls Hm, I guess that is true. Better rewrite my sentence again to replace the toggle with a pure fill.
