In my opinion, good music has great lyrics, lyrics where each line surprises you and says something you don't expect.

My recommendations? Paul Simon, Jonathan Coulton, They Might be Giants, Tally Hall, Miracle Musical, Blues Traveler.

Personally, I think that a good music taste is composed of at least one obscure artist. Doesn't matter how obscure, doesn't matter how many you listen to, but as long as you listen to at least one artist that has not played on the radio, then you're good to go. For me personally, that would be artists like Allen Inuyama, Frums, Invasion of Chaos (not the Yu-Gi-Oh thing), glass beach and Schwank, to name a few. That way, you're supporting smaller artists that deserve way more recognition and you let them keep on doing what they love the most instead of just supporting popular artists that already have a lot of money. Nothing wrong with listening to the mainstream artists, though.

Good music taste is whatever you like. It’s subjective there’s no right or wrong answer
