that's the point. whooooosh. It's for OSs that can't support modern scratch versions.

That's not what “whoosh” means…

Dude.. 95 is nearly 30 years old.. 98 is nearly 25.. and if you use Windows 95 today, you most likely use it in a virtual machine.

think about this, some kid in school is told by their friend about Scratch, this school doesn't have electronics for students, so when the day is over, the kid is able to go on his 45-year-old mother's computer ,which has windows 98. He can't use Scratch because 98 doesn't have compatibility for it.

one potential Scratch user down the drain.

I don't think he would even use the computer if it had Windows 98 on it honestly. And the reason why Scratch 1.4 supports 2000 and XP is because back when it was created, those operating systems still had extended support. By the time Scratch was released, Windows 98 had no more extended support.

I never said it had to be a supported OS

Yeah but that's why they don't support Windows 98 or earlier. Because they were really old at that point, and Scratch 1.x replaced the beta versions.

Oh god help me… does he have a newer computer though? If not I don't think Scratch would really add support to a 25+ year old OS just because of that one situation again.

Oh god I don't even know what has been happening in this forum since Christmas break.. like this isn't going to be implemented for a small marketshare… They really aren't going to release a prototype too.. What is the point of this???

But why? Why would you want a 17 year old scratch program that dosent even function correctly?

No support, scratch 0.2 was meant for beta purposes, and it wasn't meant to be released, so i doubt if scratch would ever release this version.
Why do a considerable number of people still prefer Scratch 2.0, even after we ditched it in 2019? Because it's cool!

There are prototype versions in unofficial Scratch archives (like this one). Since there aren't any beta versions for official download already, I don't think they would host the prototypes.

1.0-3.0 pretty much. They mentioned Windows 98 and earlier too. And they aren't putting up a prototype. If you wanted to install it, just look up “Development of Scratch”, “Scratch 0.2”, or something.

If you mean 2.0 then yeah LOL, though if by 0.2, then yeah, specially since it wasn't even a final product.

Windows 98 doesn't even support modern browsers. This person who doesn't even exist wouldn't even be able to download it anyway.

0.49% of all Windows computers still use XP. Weirdly enough, Armenia's usage of XP is at 64%.
