I haven't watch The Mario Movie yet. But since I like any animated kids movie/show, I think I'll like it.

No, Game Freak is its own independent company (similar to HAL Laboratory and Intelligent Systems), otherwise I highly doubt they would be making PS4 games
Pokemon is owned by Game Freak, Nintendo, and Creatures Inc.
