I don't think this is a good idea. There are a lot of times when you want to “advertise” on the forums. Maybe you are a new scratcher and want to link an image in Suggestions? Maybe you are a scratcher who wants to link a project with a bug and post it to Bugs and Glitches? There are so many uses for the forums.

I don't think it should be that strict either. Overall, I would say the forums are for an older percentage of people than the main site is. So, they put more trust in the people that are in the forums. With more trust, comes more privileges. And the scratch forum community accepted those privileges and doesn't abuse them. The forums get a longer character limit than the comments. We get that so we can type long paragraphs such as this.

This brings us to my third reason. We have a longer character limit, so we write longer things. The filter bot has a few bugs in the comments, but imagine how buggy it would be on the forums. Imagine this, A forumer writes an essay on a new suggestion that is over 100k characters and posts it. The filterbot flags it because in 1 or maybe 2 instances, it detects an unintended hidden meaning. The forumer scratches his head and spends the next 5 minutes trying to find out what's wrong with his essay. He finds nothing wrong and tries to post it again. This same process happens over and over again until the forumer just gives up on writing his highly constructive piece.

My final reason why this shouldn't be implemented? Topics shouldn't be censored. As I have said before, the forums get more privileges. Said privileges give us less censoring on topics not everyone agrees on. We can post suggestions not everyone agrees on. That suggestion might get reported because some people might not understand it. Said suggestion gets taken down because not everyone likes it. Also, some suggestions aren't in the right category, and the most common thing to do is to report them. Now, if said feature gets added, we would have to wait for a scratch team member to see the topic and move it, or it gets taken down because too many people reported being moved.

TL;DR
1. There are reasons to advertise.
2. We get more privileges.
3. We have much longer posts which leads too the filterbot likely flagging something
4. We shouldn't be censored.

But this time interval would grow when you were trying to post a bad word again right after the mut ended.

Well, this might always happen. The comments censor has some Bugs too and still not perfect. Well, to support that the humans have their look at what's going on, I'd also say, there should be a auto-hide function, so when many People report a post or Topic that it will be hidden until the Scratch Team checks it out. So, when for example a troll comes to the Forums and begins bosting, that many people report him and his Posts already get hidden when the Scratch Team hasn't come yet.

What you are suggesting is probably impossible with how the website is currently set up.

The forums run on third party software (DjangoBB) that is still linked to old 2.0 website code. The current comment filter system is set up to work with 3.0 only, so I imagine that both filter systems are still seperate.

This is basically asking people to mass-report posts they disagree with so that they're less visible.
