This suggestion isn't just about pronouns in comments
Here's some: If a new user sees a comment with the question mark next to their name and clicks it, they might wonder how to set theirs up. I think it might be helpful to include a link to the commented user to see their profile. But let me guess, you are going to say they can just click the profile pic.I am not encouraging them, but if no one uses this feature, why have it?Good idea, but I'm not sure if this is our biggest priority at the moment… Maybe some time in the future someone could organize this..? It would be very helpful to have some more feedback.
Sure, but that doesn't actually tell us how many people would legitimately use it and just say “oh that sounds like a good idea” but never actually use it.

Yeah, this definitely is something that should be more clear. If a new user sees a comment with the question mark next to their name and clicks it, they might wonder how to set theirs up.
What do you mean? Like in the status there is a link to their profile or something? I think it might be helpful to include a link to the commented user to see their profile.

A link to the users profile to see more. Though that would be pointless as the person's about me would be there anyway. What do you mean? Like in the status there is a link to their profile or something?

People are acting like this is the most confusing thing to be on the site if it were to be added. It's literally just what the original post says. Click, see About Me, and nothing more.
The only way you would misunderstand that is if you're very new to the site. Take a look at the editor or a studio from a New Scratcher's point of view. They'd probably be confused. But the Scratch Team won't change it because that isn't their biggest priority, so it shouldn't be ours.

I'm not acting like it, I'm just saying it like it is. People are acting like this is the most confusing thing to be on the site if it were to be added
The difference between this suggestion and the editor & studio is that the editor and studios need to stay. This doesn't have to become a reality. Take a look at the editor or a studio from a New Scratcher's point of view. They'd probably be confused.

But if they don't it shouldn't be because it's too confusing. This doesn't have to become a reality.

It's not too confusing to click a profile picture or a username, is it? And now you'll tell me about tabs and slow devices again. But if they don't it shouldn't be because it's too confusing. This doesn't have to become a reality.

Yes, and that people might forget about the about me or want a reminder. And now you'll tell me about tabs and slow devices again.

It's not a reminder if it's there in every comment though. Maybe when (IF) they are first introduced, yeah, but then it will just be there. A pointless addition.Yes, and that people might forget about the about me or want a reminder. And now you'll tell me about tabs and slow devices again.

I see what you're saying, but I'm talking about being reminded of the about me, not the button. Like so you can remember someone's pronouns or something (hence the title) It's not a reminder if it's there in every comment though.

Look, I get what you are saying. But this addition becomes pointless if someone didn't put their pronouns or nothing of any concern on their about me.I see what you're saying, but I'm talking about being reminded of the about me, not the button. Yep Look, I get what you are saying. But this addition becomes pointless if someone didn't put their pronouns or nothing of any concern on their about me.

This will make people care more about their about me, as it reflects them way more and has a lot more use around the site, so they will probably put their pronouns in their about me. If they don't, they can always correct someone, which honestly isn't terrible either.

On the topic of confusion, however, this brings up another point. A new Scratcher may see this sort of thing and wonder how they can make such a “status,” and/or be confused on its purpose. There should probably be instructions and/or an explanation somewhere on the Scratch website stating what this is used for. (But where?)
Hold up I have an idea…What if we just put a header at the top of the popup saying "'s About Me"? After reading that, I'd be surprised if a curious Scratcher couldn't figure it out for themselves.

They are blankYes, it should be. But what would count as blank? If I put a space, is it still blank? How about a newline? When the about me is blank of user 1 what will user to see. Will the symbol be hidden?

so something like this?Maybe it could be a different colour or in italics if it was the empty message. What if that was someone’s actual about me?
This user does not have an About MeEdit: Or this?
<Username> does not have an About Me

I like this mock-up a lot, it makes it pretty obvious that they don’t have an about me.

Same here. ‘About Me’ should be capitalized, but that's not an especially important detail.MockupMaybe it could be a different colour or in italics if it was the empty message. What if that was someone’s actual about me?
I like this mock-up a lot, it makes it pretty obvious that they don’t have an about me.
Also, I was thinking, some people were saying that the question mark was too obvious and intrusive. Maybe, to make it look better, we could make it white with a grey outline instead of grey with a white outline? Just an idea. I think the popup looks ok as-is though.
300th post yay
