Usually its 1-99 then 100+ Then 500+ then 1000+, why not add other multiples of 1000 like 2000+ , 3k etc until you reach 5k then it will stop at 5000+

It shouldn't be too easy for people to show off their post count, so I think it should be more multiples of 1000, not 500.

Only about 300 users in 180,000 people who have posted in the forums have got more than 2000 posts. That is 1 in 600 people who have more than 2000 posts. If this suggestion was implemented, it would be a change that a miniscule fraction of users would actually use.

However, this number could increase. Perhaps those users at the 1000+ mark will be motivated that there are more post counts and will post more. This would mean that more people would use this feature.

But then this would encourage people to shoot for a higher post count, which isn't important. We don't want people to focus on post count.

Yes, I was thinking of that but did not want to go too off-topic: I was trying to only look at it from usage point of view. Anyway, this would be one of the cons.

The idea is that whether you have 1000 posts or 3000 doesn't actually make any real difference in your experience level, but people may needlessly compete over it or may make unconstructive posts just to increase their post count. However, under the current system, there is no incentive to make more posts after 1000 just to increase post count. I don't know if this would fall under TOLORS (it explicitly rejects showing exact post counts, but I don't know if it covers adding brackets beyond 1000).

I agree. I think our current post count system works pretty well to show experience while not overly encouraging post count spam.
