This suggestion isn't just about pronouns in comments
So what if your about me has a little arrow or whatever telling you to check out their featured project? Now it'd look silly. Also, having a button to see someone's about me in every comment would make it even slower. No, I'm saying that having this would make opening a new tab - which is very slow - unnecessary. So you're saying that by adding something to open someone's about me in every comment will “make it faster”? That's not how it works. And as a person who uses mobile frequently, I can tell you that you're the exception - most mobile devices are incredibly slow with Scratch.

Something occasionally looking a bit silly isn't that big of a deal. If the scratcher really thinks it looks weird they'll just remove it. Another solution to this is to just have a separate about me for the comments.

The problem is that most Scratchers won't open a new tab and read the about me. If this suggestion was added, more Scratchers would see this as convenient and read the About Me. While it may be a bit for the ST to add for Scratchers it will add convenience.

This is going nowhere. Seriously, adding this in is just weird. The majority of Scratch's userbase only uses Scratch on desktop. And as a person who uses mobile frequently, I can tell you that you're the exception - most mobile devices are incredibly slow with Scratch.

Apparently you weren't at the This is going nowhere. Seriously, adding this in is just weird.last two pronouns in comments suggestions…
This is a constant reminder that the about me exists. Having it on every single comment? You'll remember to read someone's about me. Why would we ever want to see someone's about me when you could just open someone's profile and see everything?
Plus, some people may forget the about me. It won't just save one click. It will save many. See, it would be very helpful to have a reminder of someone's pronouns, hobbies, or interests, so that you could just hover over the button instead of clicking to their profile every time.
You haven't actually said any valid cons about this feature. You're saying that there is a workaround, but that doesn't mean this feature shouldn't exist. You're saying that it will overload the servers? No, scratch can handle thousands of comments a second, and this is literally just pulling data from something that already exists. These cons don't outweigh the pros that people can be constantly reminded of the about me's existence and that it will make the about me more accessible across the site.

The cons do outweigh the pros. If you want a reminder to check someone's about me, then remind yourself. Scratch shouldn't need to remind you. do outweigh the pros. Then list some. The cons
Counter to the workaround of clicking a profile: This will make the about me easier to access. Not only that, but it will be a reminder for people to read the about me more. Plus, if you forget someone's about me, you can always read it again.
Counter to it'll make the site slow: It won't. Scratch can handle way worse things than this, and is currently doing so. Chances are, this feature won't destroy scratch's databases.
*Cough* messages Scratch shouldn't need to remind you.
*Cough* signatures Plus, why do we need to see someone's about me in every comment?

Haven't you been listening? I've been listing them and you guys keep saying the same things that “oh it will remind people to read someone's about me” but that doesn't make sense. Why would people want to read someone's about me more? And don't say it's because of convenience or because it's there. Let's take the my stuff as an example. There's the obvious folder and then there's clicking the profile and clicking my stuff. I don't think you do the second one. By adding this feature in, you are discouraging people to visit someone's profile which probably has more about them then their about me.do outweigh the pros. Then list some. The cons
To the first counter, I answered this in the point above.
To the second one, you'd have to update the data for all of the already posted comments first. Plus, there is no point for this feature for all the reasons I've already said.
Both of those are irrelevent to this conversation.*Cough* messages Scratch shouldn't need to remind you.*Cough* signatures Plus, why do we need to see someone's about me in every comment?

Signatures are essentially an about me in your comment, with only a slightly different format. Scratch also reminds you to check various things, such as new posts, discussions, and projects

Yeah, THEREFORE we should encourage people to go to someone's profile instead to see more about them.

How would we do so? With the current system most Scratchers will just go for not reading the About Me at all.

Wouldn't it be great if they did though? That's what this suggestion is about. Scratch shouldn't need to remind you.
no point for this feature for all the reasons I've already said.Would you though? I'm not an expert about how scratch is programmed, but I'm pretty sure each comment doesn't have its own data. For example, if you change your pfp, it will update on every comment you made, because the data from the picture is being pulled from the data on your profile about your pfp. This doesn't lag the servers, so why should this? you'd have to update the data for all of the already posted comments first. Plus, there is
To make myself more clear, let's say I have this.
forever
if <key [left v] pressed?> then
change x by (-10)
end
if <key [ v] pressed?> then
change x by (10)
end
end
If I wanted to change the speed, I would have to change two values, This is what you think will have to happen, and how you think data for comments works. However, comments are like this:
set [speed v] to [10]
forever
if <key [left v] pressed?> then
change x by ((-1) * (speed))
end
if <key [ v] pressed?> then
change x by (speed)
end
end
Now, you only have to change 1 value you change the speed. See what I mean? It won't have to update every comment, just update the template.

I'm just going to stop but you guys make no sense. Let me review my points before I stop.
(also, to musicROCKS013's example, that makes no sense either way)
- Stops encouraging people to go to a profile where more info could be
- Lag
- If you want to read someone's about me, go to the profile
- It's not hard to open up a profile
- You don't have to add more because there already is more
- It's untidy
- It wouldn't encourage more people to read your about me because if they weren't encouraged before, how would this make them want to more?

Okay, I will listen to all of your points
1. This is actually quite valid, I do agree with this.
2. It will not increase lag. I could go into detail about this, but since it is just sourcing already known information it won't increase any lag, if so, it will only increase it barely. an about me is 200 bytes max.
3. More people will read the about me if it's right in front of them. I read nobody's about me while I'm commenting but I read almost everyone's siggy.
4. Above
5. ? Can you rephrase because I don't really understand what you're trying to say
6. I agree a bit, it will take up some room but there are ways to reformat this
7. Same reason as # 3

I'm sorry? LAG!? We've said I'm just going to stop but you guys make no sense. Let me review my points before I stop.multiple times that this wouldn't cause lag, but instead prevent it.
- Stops encouraging people to go to a profile where more info could be
- Lag
Plus I don't want to open another tab just to see someone's about me (I have once again, 20+ tabs open, I don't need more thanks)
And no this won't explode the databases into a million pieces.
I'd do this with the rest of the reasons but that'd be a whole PARAGRAPH of words

Slightly offtopic try not to turn this into a heated debate… that's why the last few suggestions similar to this were deleted.
