Would they though? It's not like the ST has to store any additional user data if this is implemented. Of course, it will take up some space, but it likely won't lag the site too badly, right?

probably not as much as the images that Scratch keeps upscaling

Why do we have to store more information with this? Can't it just fetch what the user has on their profile? And as far as I know, the site doesn't fall apart when millions of comments are stored on the servers every month, so this shouldn't do anything.

This also has the bonus of making pronouns, as well as other important information, easily accessible. I don't believe this issue was considered on the previous pronouns suggestions; why is this, which is better, considered not worth the click when that wasn't?

Updating this: Completely disagree now. I still can see how it could be helpful but it is still easier to just open the profile.
I think the biggest mistake you're making here is that someone would click on someone's profile in the first place just to read their about me. Implementing this suggestion will make the about me have more influence around the site, and will make it a lot more accessible and inviting. This small convenience will cause people to read someone's about me way more than if this feature isn't implemented.
How often do you read someone’s about me anyway? How often do you read it that you need a button to open it?

Sure, until everyone uses it “non-stop” but seriously, how often do you need to read someone’s about me? If you really wanted to for some bizarre reason, fine. Open up their profile. And then you guys are like “oh but what about on mobile”. You can open a new tab. It doesn’t take long to load at all. I’m using a mobile device to type this. My browser / operating system: MacOS Macintosh X 10.15.6, Safari 15.5, No Flash version detected. Seriously guys, when would this ever need to exist?

TLDR; This feature would likely make people read about me's more.

Unless:
1. You're on mobile.
2. You're on a slow device.
3. Scratch's servers are running slowly.
Or you want to learn about someone but not go to their profile.

TBH that's kind of a point against this feature, or at least supporting Unity_and_Cq's points. What are the reasons you wouldn't want to go on someone's profile?

Okay? So you want the ST to add a feature in so more people can read someone’s about me even though you can see the about me and more in a click. Seems legit.

That’s my point. Adding a feature in to save a click (though you still have to use a click) is a little odd to me.

You are assuming that with or without this feature, the attention given to the about me will stay the same. This is simply not the case. Although one click is all it takes, having the about me everywhere on the site? That's going to make the about me WAY more accessible and widespread, and give someone more chances to read or think about reading the about me.

Maybe you're looking through comments and want some more context to the comments. And you take a look at their about me to see a bit more context on it, but you want to do multiple at a time.
I sometimes have this experience where I want to look at multiple profiles. But I can't since it'd lag my browser a little too much.
So this could be a very helpful feature for many users.

I understand but if people don’t have interest before this suggested addition, why would they have anymore interest?

Well they do have the my stuff icon in the header when all you need to do to access it is click the dropdown. They also have the ideas page in the header when all you need to do to find it is scroll to the footer.

But it isn’t helpful. If you seriously needed context, open up their profile. But honestly, why would you need to have someone’s about me in every comment?

Because then the about me will be everywhere on the site. It will hopefully remind people, “Oh! I should read this person's about me.”
