Yeah. On one hand, a troll could make a bot to fulfill these requirements if they were too clear, but on the other hand innocent users could have trouble changing a project.
-
Plus, what is stopping someone from, after sharing the project, just reverting everything back to its original state?

That could be a problem…. maybe, if they changed it back to the orginal, it would come up with a message when they click save, saying “Your project is an exact copy of the orginal. Please make changes, if you do not, this project will be unshared”

If this was implemented, should the ST be SUPER clear about remixing requirements, or make them kind of vague, such as the requirements on how to become a scratcher?

I'm not sure…. I'll think about that
I think it should be clear so someone doesn’t get confused if it doesn’t let them share or get reported but they don’t understand
Because people under 8 use scratch or they just don’t get it.

I think that St could do it by the user's brithdate / age, since we all insert that info. If it under 8, it would be a simpler version (“Your project is the same as the project you remixed. On scratch, we encourage making unique projects! To share this project, just make some changes like costume colours, or some coding ” ). If over 10, it would be clear on what they had done wrong, but a little vauge on how to fix it…… ( "

The difficult issues might be deciding how much of a change would be required to allow the remix to be shared
The only way this would really be possible is if you could detect if the project was EXACTLY the same. Like, changing one costume a little bit would suffice it, but at this point it is pretty much useless. The problem with this is about same problem with how the filter can't detect context.

Paddle2See wrote:

coming up with good messaging to let the person know why sharing wasn't happening
How about the “share” button is saturated or gray, indicating you can't press it, and on the project page instead of saying, “This project is not shared — so only you can see it. Click share to let everyone see it!” it could say something else, like "Try making more changes to the project before sharing it —Make your own unique creation!

Maybe the message could be "Sorry, your remix of 's project ( ), appears to not have any changes, making it exactly the same as the project you remixed. This is highly dicouraged, and before you share the project, you must make a few small (or big ) changes, such as colouring, functions, or coding“

Or

”Sorry, your remix of 's project ( ), description appears to not have any changes, making it exactly the same as the project you remixed's descrption. This is highly dicouraged, and before you share the project, you must change the description. This could be by removing sections, personalizing, or maybe even correcting errors.
" )

Sorry if u cant understand, im still getting used to the Quote function…

But would they be able to add sprites that do noting and make them hidden and with a bunch of useless code?
I agree, but I think maybe 9 and over for vague and 8 and under for clear
The problem is if someone lied about their age
Would that mean they know exactly what wrong and just add useless stuff?
Sorry I’m tryna come up with everything

Age can't define someone's vocabulary. There might be 7-year-olds with the vocabulary of an average 5th grader, and it's not worth giving them a vague statement while they can understand a clearer version. Let's just put the second version as in the quote. And if someone doesn't understand the alert, they can ask an adult or check the dictionary. It's honestly not that difficult.

That's very true and I just wanted to add on and say I'm living proof of that statement. I'm an older Scratcher but English is very hard for me

So, the message will be vague. What should the actual requirements be?

Yess the Desc must be different

And yeah… Maybe a quarter of the sprites must have changes. And if they make a sprite, it must have some actual purpose. (e.g: you made a variable that is used in it, it has 3+ costumes, if there is a hide block it needs to have 2 other scripts…..)

Okay, but I mean specific requirements. For example:

  • 1/4 of sprites should have at least one thing changed.
  • 1 Costume must be changed in 2 sprites (if there are 2 sprites)
  • There must be 10 new code blocks.

These aren't meant to be taken as actual requirements. They are just examples.

Yeah, but only if you want them to be. I think the requirements should be given a LOT of thought.

True…

Like a while ago someone remixee my project “Cat Girl Pics”, didnt give credit, just added random stuff on top of my drawings, and made the brightness go to 100

Im still trying to figure out why they did it (it was today). Also can u take a look and tell me if it should be reported?

The automatic banner made when remixing a project counts as sufficient credit, just to you know.

Scratch says it does apparently, though credit by that scratcher should still be given
And sadly that counts enough not to be reported
