On the forum homepage, you might have seen something like this next to each forum category:

This collapses the forum so that only the title (in this case, “Welcome to Scratch” is showing).
So, your homepage could look like this:

This is helpful if you are only active in a certain area of the forums. For me, I'm most active in the “About Scratch” section, so, therefore, I didn't collapse it.
This would be great, so you can easily access the forums you are most active in, if the forums actually stayed collapsed after you leave the forums homepage. Go ahead, try it out.
So, my suggestion is to actually keep the forums collapsed after you've collapsed them. The way things are right now, there's no point in even having the collapse button.

Support. This would give the collapse button more function and would be a nice way to make the forum homepage more organized.

Support. I don’t really use any forums other than TIRAP and Suggestions, so this could be really helpful.

Semi-support. I feel like this could distract users from some forums, but then again, is this really a big problem? I don't use the feature for the reason you have stated. It would be nice if they kept the forums collapsed when I hit the button.

I don’t see why it doesn't do this - what is the purpose of them otherwise?

So would this be like if you spend more time on about Scratch it would only show that?

Yes, it shows whatever forums you leave dropped down even if you go to another site it saves the drop-down. Seems kinda small but don't judge a book by its cover, I think it would be nice. So would this be like if you spend more time on about Scratch it would only show that?

Not necessarily most spent time, just if you wanted a section to be collapsed, it would save that. So would this be like if you spend more time on about Scratch it would only show that?

Semi-support, I feel like this affects certain people more than others. Like me who leaves the forums open on my pc for like 6 hours at a time, so for me (and other people like me) this wouldn't affect me. but on the other hand its a better feature for the people that cant stay on for long. Although on the other, OTHER hand, this isn't a really big problem since like, its just scrolling down a little more with a mouse.
tl;dr : it isn't a huge thing to be added and it depends on which type of people are using the forums.

(#17)I feel the same, but then, it would be nice just to know that I could do it if wanted to

As it is right now, the feature is completely useless and just taking up space (even if it is a tiny amount). The Scratch Team could either remove it, or make it actually work, which could be beneficial to some users. Semi-support, I feel like this affects certain people more than others.
