Make an announcement on gun rules
Alot of QaS people are asking about why gun projects are taken down, alot of these projects keep getting removed so we should make an announcement to make it clearer that it's not allowed!

This is already implemented, is it not?
Help keep the site friendly.
It’s important to keep your creations and conversations friendly and appropriate for all ages. If you think something on Scratch is mean, insulting, too violent, or otherwise disruptive to the community, click “Report” to let us know about it. Please use the “Report” button rather than engaging in fights, spreading rumors about other people’s behavior, or otherwise responding to any inappropriate content. The Scratch Team will look at your report and take the appropriate action.

Sure, subtly, but I think this will make it clearer as there is a lot of confusion on it. This is already implemented, is it not?

Well, I don't see including guns in projects as really innapropriate, but there should be rules on how they should be shown.
Like, they shouldn't be shooting off and getting things gory, but it's a bit extreme if you report projects that have idle guns in them. While guns are violent, it really depends on what they're being used for, a prop is fine, if you got a project with a gang using them and going on a killing spree.
…..*Inhale* NO! That is NOT okay!! Keep them idle!
I mean… Kids should know they exist, but they should know right and wrong about them as well. To not have knowledge of them is far more dangerous than knowing about them.

Some kids have complained that users have used guns in ways that bring back traumatizing memories, and they're just taken lightly, so basically no guns are allowed on Scratch unless it's like a laser gun!
But I'm not suggesting to change the rules, I'm suggesting to make the current rules more clearer.

Also, do you think old types from like the 17th century would be allowed? Revolvers are shaped a bit differently than the modern handgun (those actually do scare me), plus they're historical. (If not, it's fine.)

Sorry, but you aren’t correct, Realistic guns (as in any type of gun that is real, no matter how they are shown) aren’t allowed at all (?). If they appear in a project, please report it. Laser guns, portal guns and basically guns that don’t exist in the real world are allowed though (?). -snip-

Probably not, but you can ask about it in QaS if you want, I guess this all proves the gun rules need to be clearer for everyone. Oh, I didn't think about that. And yeah, they should make it clearer on what they mean.

I think this would be beneficial as it would give people their answer without even needing to open the QaS forum, they could just see the answer on the front page.

Well, a revolver does look like a real gun, so I'm willing to believe that revolvers are subject to the same rules as modern guns. It's comparing apples to apples at this point. Also, do you think old types from like the 17th century would be allowed? Revolvers are shaped a bit differently than the modern handgun (those actually do scare me), plus they're historical. By now, I'm under the impression that the rule is “No realistic guns are allowed on the Scratch website.” This seems relatively unambiguous to me, and I don't know of any exceptions, other than the fact that the uses of water guns, laser guns, are allowed — but those aren't “realistic” guns anyway.

Stupid rules and stupid ideas. So we should ban Nerf guns because they reference violence? We should also ban Terraria references due to the guns in the game… While we are at it, lets ban all the fps games and even ROBLOX GAMES… Maybe we should also ban cars because they run over thousands of people each year….

This is already a rule, this is just suggesting to let more people know about it. Stupid rules and stupid ideas.
Also, I'm pretty sure nerf guns and water guns are fine, but that's pretty much the only exception. So we should ban Nerf guns because they reference violence?

I don't think mentions of Terraria, Roblox, and Nerf would terrorize people as much as guns, so that's not really a fair comparison. Stupid rules and stupid ideas. This might bring unessecary attention to the issue. If the Scratch Team were to frontpage an announcement regarding guns, everyone would be able to see it (that is the point of frontpaging). Younger users might be curious about it and check it out, and, depending on what's in the announcement, it might lead to some Google searches or questions. That probably wouldn't be good for the kids or the Scratch Team if parents complain their child is looking up gun related content.

But more is gained than is lost, arguably this would be less scary than if we applied that same argument to the FNAF announcement and assumed those were the results, and this issue really needs to be addressed because it's causing lots of confusion on the site This might bring unessecary attention to the issue. That's your fault for making it public that you reported a project. You really, support, I saw a gun project, reported it, and the creator got really mad at me(comments on my profile are proof)really should not do that.

Does anyone happen to remember whether or not the announcements regarding cloud chat projects or advertising/f4f were on the front page when the announcements were posted? I suspect they were not (at least not for cloud chats), but “suspect” is not necessarily a confirmation/citation. Anyway, I don't think every post made in the Announcements forum is put on the front page — in that case, the Scratch Team could just make an Announcement post without putting it on the front page. How 'bout them apples?
