Allow All Unicode Country Flag Emojis to be Posted in Comments

This would spread more diversity to everyone all around the world. It would let more users celebrate how and where they live; and would make them feel more welcomed on Scratch.

The Scratch Team doesn't have to make anything. My suggestion is just to allow these emojis to send in comments, descriptions, and forum posts.

You would think talking about and encouraging diversity would be more effective at spreading/promoting/celebrating diversity than simply posting an emoji of a flag in a comment…

Looks like this is a duplicate. It is suggested to use the topic provided to keep the forums organized.

Mine is a bit different; Scratch isn't importing anything. It's just allowing those emojis to be posted.

That isn't what the other suggestion is suggesting. It's suggesting to add flags as emojis, not import emojis.

That's not what I mean. If you try posting a flag in a comment, it will not send that emoji in the message.

So you're saying that if you try to post a flag in a comment, it won't send the message because it counts as a bad word?

No, any emoji must be manually verified for it to send. Those flags should be allowed to be posted. I don't think you understand, it has nothing to do with the bad word filter.

Maybe to shorten country names because of character limits.

I don’t believe this is a duplicate, actually. This user is suggesting to allow flag emojis to be selected from the Apple emoji library and posted in Scratch comment, while that topic is suggesting to add emojis to the list of Scratch-exclusive emojis.

Now, talking about this on the this topic will get us even more offtopic, so if you have any questions about it, ask them on my profile.

Another name you can call these would be global emojis.

It would be beneficial in some discussions. Scratchers could also add their country flag in their about me too.

I was going to say something here unrelated to this about reporting their comment for discriminating, but I read the post wrong, so here's a real post.

What about instances where you want to post a flag on someone's project?

An example of this I think:

It's so unfair! I just can't stop bumping topics to the front page!
Oh, why do good topics have to move off the first page?!

And… This is a bump.

it might be a bit convoluted with some countries being represented differently in the media

That's the same thing as saying that different religions or cultures shouldn't have the chance to be represented because they are being defined differently in the media. That's wrong, Scratch is for everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion.

It's not necessarily disallowing those emojis from being posted, it's just that Scratch doesn't support emojis in general. A better suggestion would be to change some server-side code to let it take in emojis.

Actually…I meant:
Support! Especially with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it would be great to offer flag emojis to be posted (and U.N and UniCEF flags, too)…
