I think this is one of the best ideas I have ever heard!
Za-Chary should be honoured with a special status for moderating and developing the Scratch website.
I was not a developer.
Why should I be honored with a special status?
The irony about that quote is?
Oh my mistake. I thought that (most) Scratch Team members (back when you were a Scratch Team member) both moderate and develop the site.
Well, the reason why I think you should be honoured with a special status is because, to be honest, you're a legend in the Scratch community.
April Fools' Day was great. The joke about me not closing the tags was actually funny. I almost got tricked!
Also, I agree that schoolwork is more important than moderating a website.

Thank you. But I think “legend in the Scratch community” is a little subjective, and definitely not the same as “former Scratch Team member.” Do I really deserve recognition on the same tier as @griffpatch for things like project-making and helping the community? Note that @griffpatch is not a former Scratch Team member. On the other hand, does anyone recognize @GulpTea as a legend in the Scratch Community? He certainly was, as he is a former Scratch Team member, but some might argue that he is not a “legend.”

So much stress so much stress so much stress! Also, thanked by a former Scratch Team member!
And you're welcome. I'm literally shaking from stress and excitement! I've got to calm down…
Hmm, you're right. Former Scratch Team members should be as honoured as regular Scratchers, but that poses a dilemma:
If Former Scratch Team members were as respected as regular Scratchers, that wouldn't be fair, and if Former Scratch Team members were given more or equal respect as Scratch Team members, that also wouldn't be fair.

Why is that unfair? I am a regular Scratcher and should be treated as such. I don't deserve “more respect” than other Scratchers just because I was once a Scratch Team member — in fact, everyone should be treated with as much respect as possible.

Well, I think all Scratchers should be treated with the same amount of respect as Scratch Team members. Just set the bar high to begin with.

I might have to think about a solution to this problem…
*timer ding* Okay, I have thought about it, and I agree with you. Former Scratch Team members should have as equal respect as regular Scratchers.

Support, this would make it clear if somebody was lying to you about being a former ST member or not.

New Scratchers probably don't know about him being a former ST member and it would be confusing. Now we're getting off-topic.

maybe some former ST members won't want to be recognised as ST members if the fame got too hard to handle, having a status like that would make this impossible. Support if it is made togglable for former ST members.

I also think that there should be a toggle for this status. Preferably in “Account Settings”, but it would need a verification system.

The only way for a user to know if they were a ST member is if they put it in their profile information. But, one can easily put “I used to be in the Scratch Team!” in their about me. Yes, they can be reported and have it removed, but it’s still likely that a few people will fall for it.

I think it could also be worth noting in the OP that it could even be the opposite scenario. Users might also not believe certain users that actually were on the Scratch Team, and they may report those users for “lying to the community,” when those users actually were members of the Scratch Team.

For example, @Za-Chary’s old posts are written as if he were a Scratch Team member, sometimes saying he was a Scratch Team member. Now that he’s no longer on the team, I’ve actually seen users ask if he really was a member of the Scratch Team. Same with @Lightnin, actually. Without knowing the context, users will be confused.

This too ^
There could at least be a page listing former members of the ST, as a subsection of the “our team” page.
Edit: apparently there is, but it only says their name, not their username + icon like everyone who is currently on the team
