Crop images when you upload a profile picture
This would be really great because now I don’t have to go to firealpaca and crop the image! Suppoet

Support - It's somewhat infuriating when the pfp looks too wide/thin b/c the image wasn't square, so having the ability to snip it into a square would be very nice.

Crop images when you upload a profile picture
Sometimes when you get a profile picture it might not be under 500 pixels or it’s a rectangle and it gets squished when you upload it.
If you have those problems then say hello to the cropinator 9000!
The cropinator 9000 makes your images that are not 500x500 or a rectangle to a beautiful square. It’s basically like uploading a profile picture to YouTube.
Thanks to cst for the mockup
I support this! It will make profile pictures easier to upload and much cleaner.

This would be very useful, instead of ising some sketchy 3rd party software. Other websites already let you do this, and its really inconvenient to not be able to do it here.

No support, this is really annoying on other websites, as they never allow my profile picture in a convenient way.
For reference, in case I change it:

(#34)Why? Your image is perfectly square so you can just scale it up to the maximum size to have no crop at all.

If you want to do image editing, I recommend the free software FireAlpaca. It gets the job done and is really helpful for art in general. FireAlpaca is a good workaround until we get a proper icon cropper. This would be very useful, instead of ising some sketchy 3rd party software. Other websites already let you do this, and its really inconvenient to not be able to do it here.
For mobile there’s ibisPaint and MediBang. Both are free programs and are *very* good!

(#39)Yes.
I assume you can also drag the square around so that you aren't forced to take only the center of the image? Hopefully so as often you'll want to take something on the side or in the corner of an image. It's not very clear in the OP.
