it allows to track across sites, stores info in the browser, does some algorithm and gives it to websites doesnt it?

It is. I stopped using chrome. If you do use it exit chrome now
Should I if the only device I have is a school Chromebook? Also, I'm pretty sure they do that for a good reason, and they don't lie about it unlike the DuckDuckGo search engine.

You can't. But you can turn of FLoC

FLoC groups you with many people and advertise at you

Open Settings them Privacy and Security and then Privacy Sandbox. There will be an option to Turn it Off

You will always get ads, but not all of them will be relavent and/or age-appropriate to you, but google spies tracks you to estimate your age and to protect you from those bad ones. Let's not talk about DuckDuckGo now, though that is a search engine

adblocker is a better solution
Well obviously, but isn't that an extension? No browser will stop you from getting ads, but Google somewhat filters them at least I think so

Opera has a built in ad blocker, and in my experience, Firefox blocks most ads as well, so technically, yeah, some browsers do stop you from getting ads.

And while yeah, the customized experience Google gives you is great, I'll admit, and the interconnected services creates a lot of ease, yes. But in order for them to give you this experience, they'll need to use a lot of your data. If you can trust a company with your data, great, why not, that being aside of the potential of them being hacked and that data being compromised.
The issue with Google is their history of concerning practices. I mean, if there was nothing wrong with them why would so many people be so against them and call out their poor practices? Why would DuckDuckGo be doing so much to stop Google's tracking? Just because they're a big company that has a successful line of cheap laptops, control over half the mobile phone industry, and created the most popular browser and search engine doesn't mean they're doing everything truly for a good reason, and doesn't mean they're not lying about it.

Now it's time to decide:
Do you want a customized experience with tailored ads and interests, along with a selection of your-data-synced programs and experiences? BUT, with the potential that your data is misused? Sold?
If you're a long-time Google user, which most people are considering Google's grand monopoly, and therefore aren't bugged by the privacy concerns, this is a pretty juicy deal.

Or:
Do you want a very non-tailored experience, with little to no programs syncing your data around for your convenience? BUT, your data being safe and secure and not misued?
In the day where everything has to be lightning fast and has to be convenient, this won't sound too great, especially when people hold trust in a company that they'll keep their data safe, hence why most go for the first option.

The choice is yours: Convenience > Privacy, or Privacy > Convenience?

Especially works on https://speedtest.net

Firefox - (strict protection, no adblockers enabled)

(censored my IP address and speedtest server)

Safari - (cross site tracking blocking enabled, no adblockers enabled)

(censored my IP address, speedtest server, and 5 ads)

The choice is yours: Convenience > Privacy, or Privacy > Convenience?
Keywords: they're not lying about it.

They're not, on the browser page it says “HOW GOOGLE USES INFORMATION FROM SITES OR APPS THAT USE OUR SERVICES” and the paragraph after it to tell you that they use your data, so how are they lying?

“Why would DuckDuckGo be doing so much to stop Google's tracking?” How in the world will that stop anything from tracking you if Gabriel Weinberg has a history of privacy abuse?

That completely erases the bad side apart from the potential that it might get hacked, but it's not Google's problem there are hackers and what's left?

The reason so many people discourage the use of Chrome and Google, and encourage the use of Firefox and DuckDuckGo is because they aren't constantly collecting your data, specifically your personal data, and above all have never shown any reason why we should not trust them.
What those people want everyone to see is that we prioritize speed and convenience. I mean, why should I use Linux, Firefox, And DuckDuckGo? Google provides a great experience, where I have a free email service, free, limited, cloud storage, a photo storage app, a school program, a full suite of office programs, so on so forth. All with one account. All from your Chromebook, to your Android phone. We're all very oriented on this ease, on speed. Even now we're impatient when a page takes 5 seconds to load, or when our computer doesn't startup within 20 seconds, when I'm sure our parents can tell us all about the load times back when they were young adults, and how they had to choose between either having their phone work, or have internet access.

It's your choice.

I don't know. I've never used Firefox or any other browser than Chrome. It's literally based off of #56
