I think that on Scratch project pages, there should be a widget similar to the “Remixes” and “Studio” ones called “Similar Projects” (or whatever you want; I don't really care what it's called). It would have maybe 5 projects that have the same tags as the project you are viewing.

This would help a lot with people trying to “get their project out there.”

Where it would be implemented is the tricky part. These are what I came up with:

1: On the side with the “Studios” and “Remixes” widgets. Probably the last one.

2: Another box on the bar with the love/fave/studios/embed/report this that would say similar projects and open up a box with them (this way they wouldn't hog all the attention).

3: The “more projects by @UserWhoMadeTheProject” could be remade to include “more projects like this” and maybe even some more options.

So, any support?

Idea 1: 5 Supporters and 1 No Supporter (Most Popular)
Idea 2: 4 Supporters and 1 No Supporter
Idea 3: 3 Supporters and 2 No Supporters

Note, I'm only human potato and I might have miss counted.

Tags, probably yes…

#3, I am not sure… I definitely support #1, but call it: Project with the same tag: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx series.
(x=letters) #2, yes.

I highly support this idea…
But I need more information about #3, and maybe I could support all…

I don't get what you mean with the xxxxxxxxxxxxxx series thing.

For number 3, maybe there could be different tabs on the thing that comes up, it would have projects by this user and similar projects.

Oh… So you are saying that the “more projects by @UserWhoMadeTheProject” should be projects with the same tags, or similar projects by other users?

Like (I am using an example of a series of projects):

Projects with the same tags: ScratchWithRespect series:
<<Project 1>>
<<Project 2>>
<<Project 3>>
and so on…

Oh, I see what you mean. The problem is that most people don't tag with series, but with stuff like “game” “artDump” “test” “home” or stuff like that.

For #3 what I am saying is that it owuld be exactly the same as it is now, but there would be another tab that you can click on next to the “more projects by @SomeRandomUser2462” that says “similar projects” which will show projects with the same tags.

Ok… Then cross that idea for #1…

Im in on #3… But I am worried about confusions…

I support for either 1. or 2. I am not a big fan of 3. but I think that this idea in general is good.

True, but I think it would be strange to have both, so if the ST wants to do one they know the ones I support. For the ST: If you are reading this please know I support 1. and 2. by themselves but not both. XD

No support. I make all of my projects 100% appropriate (My view is a bit stricter than Scratch guidelines) and I do not want to endorse any projects without my direct permission.

I support 1, but what if it could also be decided by other things - projects from the same studio as it, something like that? Otherwise you could just click the tags, and it'll come up with projects with that tag. Maybe the person who shared the project can choose a few to put there, too.

It sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how it would work. For example, AE Studios would mess it up.

I see your point, but it's not like anyone's going to be mad at you because there are bad projects that are similar. It's not like you personally recommended them, so I don't see how anyone could get mad at you.

Yes, it would be like that I guess. They have something like this on Game Jolt (A site similar to Scratch except for all programming languages) and it seems as if all of the games uploaded to there have at least a few comments and ratings.

Note: My last post wouldn't let me quote for some reason, so the original message was one without a post.

Isn't it the same on YouTube? You have no choice about the videos you want similar.

Yes, but I would be very bothered if they were there. And it might as well get rid of my “100% appropriate, all of the time” motto… Because I can't guarantee what will come up and that is a problem.

IDEA!!!
Possibly there could be an option where you can filter out the inappropriate stuff.

For the ScratchTeam:
Would it be a good idea to have a little rating team to rate the projects? That is probably the most accurate idea possible if the idea above is going to be put into action…
