It's just weird, and having to navigate through whatever things to make an actual colors that look good isn't convenent.
Exact white, black, grey, red, orange etc. isn't great looking for projects, unless you put a bunch of transparency to blend them;
which isn't possible in Scratch.
but what if we want exact colors?

the argument that it doesn't look good is pretty opinion based
The argument you gave that the sliders are weird is also pretty opinion-based. It’s not that hard to use the colour picker to get exact colours, or make a colour palette sprite. I don’t understand why you would want less freedom when it comes to choosing colours for your project (unless the palette would be toggle-able, in which case I understand).
I meant that they are hard to use for some people.

The suggestion is to make it optional, I think.

Semi-support. The scales work fine and you can ‘make’ any colour but I guess some people don't like it ?

maybe an extra “palette” button could be added:

and when clicked, it would have the palette show up:

Hey, nice mockup! I like it! I think this would be pretty cool as a toggleable option.

What colors should be in it in 3.0?
I suggest:
## ## ## ## ## ## (black grey grey grey grey white)
## ## ## ## ## ## (very bright colors)
## ## ## ## ## ## (bright colors)
## ## ## ## ## ## (less-saturated colors)
## ## ## ## ## ## (red yellow lime aqua blue fuchsia)
## ## ## ## ## ## (in-between colors)
## ## ## ## ## ## (maroon olive green teal navy purple)
## ## ## ## ## ## (very dark colors)
You missed orange, but otherwise, that looks good.
Wouldn't it also makes sense to have corresponding azure on the other side of the hue cycle, like 0080FF? Also add the concept of a dull color, etc.: for example FF0000 — Bright Red, 800000 — Dark Red, FF8080 — Pale Red, 804040 — Dull Red.

Interesting ideas, but, you know, if we are going to have "azure", we might as well add chartreuse, orange, spring green, hot pink, indigo, etc., and this is not suggesting to replace the sliders, so you could use the sliders to get special colors.

I would give the same advice about your “dull” colors; #804040 is waiting for you at Color:0 Saturation:50 Brightness:50 , and if you need it, #C04040 is at Color:0 Saturation:67 Brightness:75.

Also, you gave me a suggestion idea!

Yes, it would be optional.

I like that last idea, maybe a Recently Used row?

I support, it's really hard to use the sliders to find a color you want, but some people might like that, so maybe they could add a button for it below the sliders or something

no support, I think hex codes color picker should be a thing.
Also there is debate on which shade of orange is “true orange”.
also ALSO this could clog up the paint editor, ESPECIALLY in select as they have copy & paste, flip horizontal/vertical, you name it!

I only see this being helpful if you can set your own colors in the palette, and only your own colors. The default palette colors in Scratch 2 were terrible and since they were the default everybody used them.

Do not say “Support” without explaining why you support.
If the reason for your support is the same as someone else's, that's okay, you can still say it.

Please read the entire OP before posting!
The current color slider will be kept as well. This is an addition, not a replacement.

The original thread was closed because there was a toxic argument going on there. This is the start of a different topic that merged into this one.

If you were in 2.0, you may have remembered the pre-made color palette. 56 pre-made colors (including invisible). You didn't have to manually play with the color picker until you found what you wanted, you could just select a pre-made color and you're good. Below is what the color palette looked like (credit to @determenter)

Fast forward to 3.0, and its gone. The only pre-made colors now are light purple, black, and invisible. Scratchers have to manually search for a color instead of some ready for you. Coloring was made much harder for new scratchers.

What I'm suggesting is that in the color selector, there could be a dropdown that shows some pre-made colors like that of the 2.0 editor.

This way, it'll be much easier for new scratchers to color, as they don't have to fiddle around with the color picker to find what they want. This would also help with inaccuracies when selecting a color.

An idea is that maybe you could set certain colors of the palette to be certain colors you selected. But this is just an idea for this palette.

Another idea is that you could use arrows or a number input to select your color, but you should discuss that here.

I still don't support, for the exact same reason as last time. Anyone can easily look up a tutorial on how to use the color slider.

Just gonna follow the discussion and see where it goes from here.

If that's the case, then we might as well not add any more blocks in because anyone can easily look up a tutorial for the workaround

No support, as that looks very limited.

The reason why most blocks aren't added is because
A. Its rejected
B. Its been suggested a billion times before(meaning they are probably working on it or are thinking about it)
or C. Theres an easy workaround.

(there was a removed by moderator but I deleted it. Thanks paddle2see!)

Well yes, the color pallette is limited, but it's designed to give access to frequently used colors easily, without having to look for it with the sliders.
The sliders will still be here, this suggestion is just an addition to the color picker.

Color Palette for Scratch 3.0

I only support this if you can customize your own. I don't want a list of presets. I want a specific color that I could use everytime for an OC without having to use the color slider that slides between different colors (i don't want 31, i don't want 33, i want 32). However, if it were to be implemented where you could put your own colors on the color picker, that would be perfect. It would save so much hassle and make animations and art so much more consistent. So semi-support ig
