Chats are also discouraged because it's hard to get a full log of a chatroom. In the forums, people can see posts from days ago and report those. However, in chats, space is limited, so the message would get moved out of sight too quickly to be reported.
And it's a lot easier to spam.

No support for the chat rooms (many problems arise from this, regardless of how you deal with it). Same with the in-editor help, as it seems like only one person would be viewing the other's messages / chat / comments , making moderation a nightmare.

Does everyone know how the Scratch Team would implement this? No. Stop trying to give me 1000 reasons it is bad. Let the Scratch Team patch it. And by the way, this would work kind of the same way comments do. Those avoid most bad things.

The ST doesn't do that. You aren't just going to say “make a chat-room where everyone is nice” and they just magically do it. You have to have a firm idea.

Humans are generally better at deciphering language

Scratch is theirs. I can't just make an idea and they implement it exactly how I said it. They fix it to be almost completely perfect.

This isn't a chat room project hosted on the Scratch website. It's like a mini-forums, but inside of the Scratch project editor. Since my idea isn't an actual project, resulting in it having the ability to be censored like the forums and comments are right now.

If it's like the forums, why not just use the actual forums in a new tab?

I saw what you said about how this would be easier, but really how hard can it be to switch tabs?

You know, there is a section called Help with Scripts. That pretty much serves the same purpose of this. Just open it in a new tab.
No support as per reasons above also.

AFAIK, swearing isn't blocked in the forums.
Really? I haven't tried, but have you seen it done? (Just to know if you've been told this or you have experienced it.)

I've seen someone use… well… fill in the blank:

“Quite frankly my dear, I don't give a _____”

In the comments. It seems like this could be avoided VERY easily….

Yeah, I can see how the ST might have some problems with that. Which just got me wondering, is the fill-in-the-blanc technique allowed? It's not using any inappropriate words, but the meaning is the same. And how much of the word are we allowed to post? Just the first letter and then some asterisks? So many questions! It would probably be easier to just eliminate all use of an inappropriate word. (Which I see no problem with, since you can express you opinion with many word that are allowed on scratch.)

Support for in editor chat, this would be very useful. Not for the forums, that is too ambiguous.

Stop talking about circumventing the swear filter! It's off topic.

We're talking about a live chat. A filter is as far as I can see necessary. We've got to find most if not all ways around the filter if we want to perfect the filter.
