3 Strike Mute System

tl;dr: 3 strikes and you're out

Currently, if you comment something that isn't allowed accidentally, you automatically instantly get muted for 5 minutes. There should be a 3 chances system that resets every day (thanks to Ihatr for the reset idea)before you get auto muted since the comment isn't posted anyways and it's annoying to get muted for 5 minutes on accident.

Every time you say something that triggers the filterbot, you deplete a strike. It will not allow the comment to go through, just like before the mute update, it will just not give you a mute the first 1 or 3 times.

New Scratchers would receive only 1 chance a day, and Scratchers would get 3 chances. If you deplete your chances, Scratchers would get a 1 hour mute, and New Scratchers would get a 30 minute mute. After the mute is complete, you no longer have any chances and will get instantly muted for saying something inappropiate for the rest of the day.

thanks to fdreerf for comment alert idea

Getting muted for 5 minutes for saying something bad accidentally is not a big deal.

Most of the suggestions here are not “big deals”.

correct, 99.999999999999999999999% of all suggests on this forum aren't big deals, and don't need to be added.(and no, this isn't a joke, I have never seen a single suggestion on this forum that's needed)

As for the suggestion, I do think that it would be nice not to be muted because you tried talking about a MLP character said a bad word once.

I agree with that. I guess every little thing counts.

Semi-support, at least the “Rest of the Day” mute is no longer in effect.

Support
This would be a nice feature to add, although I've never been muted.

This is a pretty good idea, although maybe have a reduced strike count for new scratchers?

I forgot to say that this only grants New Scratchers one strike, let me add it.

Why should we make it less for New Scratchers? Many New Scratchers don't understand the rules as well as Scratchers, so maybe New Scratchers can have 5-7 strikes until they get muted.

But New Scratchers might be trolls or even bots who signed up just to cause trouble, which is why there are so many more restrictions for them. It's why the rank exists in the first place.

Yes, you are correct. +1 for that explanation why the New Scratcher rank exists

Now, I support this, what if the scratch bot mutes you because you typed in homophone ( coincidentally one word away from homophobe but still not a bad word ), or what if you typed in a mispeling and the bot picks it up as a bad word and mutes you?

Oh, right. I forgot about that. But, maybe just make it 2 strikes for New Scratchers, because some New Scratchers may be trolls, but some may be legitimate Scratchers who want to use Scratch for its intended purpose.

Ive been muted 3 times, 1 for saying discord, 1 for saying ghost capture, and 1 for saying (i don't remember) Support. This would cut down on accidental mutes while still letting things go on. How about, to balance this, we turn the current mute into a 1 hour mute.

stop bypassing the swear filter, it's there for a reason

An hour is way too long…

Edit: I mean, an hour makes sense for a serious mute, but if it was an accident made by the filter or a minor thing, that's a bit unreasonable.

The word discord can be said normally on the forums.
