My suggestion is that the forums should only be used by older scratch users, to prevent spamming/trolling. What I mean is, if your account is too young, you will only be able to access the New Scratchers forum, Bugs and Glitches forum and Questions about Scratch forum, but once your account gets older you'll be able to access other forums.

But mini mods can be helpful, and we need that kind of people to open up more possibilities. With this, I don't know how the forums is going to be helpful, and that will take away the core purpose of the forums, which we strongly oppose.

That seems incredibly prejudiced. Younger scratchers are capable of being constructive and older scratchers are capable of spamming.

What if you need Help with Scripts? Or asking Questions about Scratch? Or making Suggestions for Scratch? This might seem good at one point, but in the other, no.

this would be too restrictive imo. the forums should stay as a platform that's publicly viewable to everyone, at least to act as a reference for information (e.g Questions about Scratch or Bugs and Glitches)

You know, there are too many cons in this situation:

Yes, some people may interpret the forums as chat rooms, but here's the cons:

- New Scratchers have a suggestion or need help, but they wait a year to become a Scratcher. Then what? Will they have to hack an account? Will they have to use Contact Us, where no one but the Scratch Team can recept and accept/object/support/no support their idea?

- When they see the guide intended for new forumers, they will see all the forums mentioned, so

No support, there are forums that are supposed to be accessed by everyone (Announcements, Suggestions, QaS, BaG, etc.), also, the entire website doesn't have an age limit, changing that just for the forums is useless.

No support. Locking anything behind an age boundary is a terrible idea; people could just make a new account with a different birthdate. This suggestion is based on the stereotypical claim that all young people spam, while, in reality, people like cruncherbones can get involved in discussion while still being a kid.

Age boundary? He's talking about account age!

Oh, and kids can be mature than 13 year olds. Everyone thinks I'm not 7 for some reason when I actually am. I actually set my account age to my true age and I can't access the forums with this. And I like to post on the forums!

Oh, and Scratch is for all ages. There shouldn't be age restricted stuff, which is a rejected suggestion.

Then that makes the suggestion have a grand total of zero sense. No one would spend a year on an account just so they could suggest something, or ask for help with code.

No support. Many people have alternate accounts which are still young (or are new scratchers). For example, I will never promote my test account to a scratcher, but I would not want to be prevented from accessing the forums.

While generally younger people tend to be less mature, anyone is capable of spamming and ignoring the rules and guidelines regardless of age. There are many younger people who can be constructive and understand others. Definitely do not support this.
