Easier status bars

so, anyone ever made a game, and had to make the health bar it's own sprite with a bunch of costumes?? I'm thinking you wouldn't have to do that with these new block suggestions:

Add [health v] bar to screen with position [top right v] :: #faf607

Remove [health v] bar :: #faf607

health :: #faf607 reporter

hunger :: #faf607 reporter

energy :: #faf607 reporter

set [health v] status to () :: #faf607

or, you can have something where you can create a status bar, give it a name, color, and icon in a seperate window that opens up.

I support this even though you can do it with variables and lists.

support retracted, an alternate variable selection along with slider would be much better and more useful than this

No support. Scratch shouldn’t give you everything on a silver platter. Game mechanics such as health bars should be coded yourself, you shouldn’t be reliant on a feature to do it for you. Coding a health bar gives you more control over how it works, anyway.

it would probably be better to make “progress bars” a variable monitor type. like sliders, a progress bar can have minimum and maximum values.

but scratch is supposed to be for begginers, only just learning the basics of coding

ik you can do it with variables and lists, but like I said, if you want a good-looking energy bar for example, you have to make a whole seperate sprite

good Idea, but you should also have some graphics control… let me update the current post real quick

No support. This is exactly like “Platformer Block”
when green flag clicked
forever
platform
end
It contains all the things essential for a generic platformer.

I find it unlikely that a completely new person will go to Scratch to use a health bar.

No support. This is too prebuilt, you learn more by making it yourself.

Yes, that's exactly the reason I don't support.

I like MDCCCLXVII's proposal more than anything else. I would like to call attention to the fact that, due to weird layering issues, using pen for a health bar isn't really feasible. I don't think that this is entirely a “do everything for me” suggestion, but it is somewhat close. I'm not really sure how I feel about this.

no, it's not.
this adds status bars that can be changed in graphics and other stuff. It's not like poof! 1 block = game! no.

rlly? what if a begginer wants to make a game? a top-down shooter perhaps? I wanted to make a top-down RPG when I first joined scratch, and IK some people don't wanna make that kinda stuff, but some do!

No support. You could just use variables.
With this, it would be too easy to make stuff like that.

scratch is for begginers and is suppost to make it easier for them to learn how to code. I was new to scratch ocnce upon a time, and IK it was way too hard. I'm pretty sure ST wants it to be begginer-friendly.

But this is not related to coding.
