I don't see the point of doing this, It's just another “kill the fly with a sledgehammer” solution/suggestion

I disagree. The mass report system was designed to support an exponentially tinier community and, to my knowledge, has not been updated since. also, the pros of the mass report system outweigh the cons.

Support, I hate people asking people for follows and it just makes the community seem like a place of immature kids,

You can just be nice, and make friends, you don't need to be known, your friends know you, and friends matter more than followers, all you get when someone follows you is your followers get notified when you share projects, or like and/or fav projectsSo how else are you going to be known then? the point of followers is to be notified about what someone is doing. removing followers would get rid of this useful feature.

the old scratch site (codename scratchr) used the term friends instead of followers, seems like they purposely switched it out.
additionally, if you have no friends, it said “username has no friends yet” (i'll get a screenshot later) which may have been better sounding 10 years ago, but “having no friends” has slightly negative meaning.

Yeah, but it would be better than followers! In Poptropica, there's a friends list, and it doesn't say “<insert username here> has no friends yet” and cratch doesn't have to say “<Username> has no friends yet” the old scratch site (codename scratchr) used the term friends instead of followers, seems like they purposely switched it out.

even if it doesn't specifically say that, it would still be more sad to have no friends on scratch than when you have no followers.

I agree No support. I do NOT want to have to accept every single follow. Imagine how painful that would be for famous scratchers like griffpatch.

You don't need to be known, it's a coding website!
Why do more people try to make the illogical argument that Scratch isn't about fame every day!? Pretty much any Scratch Team member will openly tell you that fame is part of the purpose of Scratch. If the community site were never about fame then why did it come with not one but two like buttons!? Scratch isn't about fame, it's about coding and having fun, in the title, it says “Scratch - Imagine, Program, Share” it doesn't say anything about fame

I'm pretty sure the favorite button is more of a public bookmark than anything. That's why you have the list for favorites but not loves. You don't need to be known, it's a coding website! Why do more people try to make the illogical argument that Scratch isn't about fame every day!? While i see what you are getting at, a friendship would be a 2-way relationship rather than one way. Imagine a situation like this. Someone wants to get notified abut someone who's really good making a new proj. the really good user does not want to be a friend, as they don't want to be notified. So the really good Scratcher declines. While this has a few pros, there are many more cons. Maybe adding a friend button would be better, even though that would kind of destroy the point. No support.

Change The Follower Button To Friend Request Button
https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/projects/490572145 )would this really solve anything? friends are made on scratch regardless of whether they are following each other or not. and sure, the “social” aspect of scratch is a little more explored than the “coding” part of it, but the focus is still on coding all the same. followers are a way to show support. mass reporting, bullying, and spam would probably still exist without the follow button, and all these things are reportable. f4f would be changed to “friend request 4 friend request”, and the We need to change the follower button to friend request button, because: Scratch have becoming more toxic than ever. And we need to stop it before it's too late! a few years ago, Scratch was about coding and having fun! But now… there's f4f, advertising, spam, mass reporting, bullying etc! Everything people care about is followers and getting popular! Scratch have become social media, and someone needs to stop it! (Go to this project: idea of fame would still be there even if you changed the name.

No we are trying to stop A PART of the toxic community! And F4F only makes people get hungry for fame and followers! But if we changed the follower button to a friend request button, people wouldn't think about followers cause it wouldn't exist!
