Get a Message when someone that you follow shares a new Project

Wow… This is a very long topic title…

Oh, I forgot to say hello. HELLO

I think Scratch should add a feature where you get a notification in the “Message”-section when someone that you follow shares a new Project.
(this is exactly the the same which is also in the title xD)

It would also be cool if there was something like on Youtube, the Bell.
Because just see that someone has shared a new Project in the “What's happening” - section is a bit annoying, I think…

No support, because think of this scenerio:

You follow 1000 people (who does it?). Each one of them makes 2 projects everyday. Then I would get 2000 messages per day!

This feature would be very frustrating for people who F4F (they follow 100+ people) and people who love following when they see a nice project.

Why on Earth would you follow 1000 people? That's entirely the person's fault. Following people isn't just increasing a random number on their profile page, you're saying “I want to be notified about this user's activity.”

This feature would be very frustrating for people who F4F (they follow 100+ people) and people who love following when they see a nice project.

F4F isn't an encouraged activity, and I see stopping people from doing F4F as an absolute positive.

Support, I hate when I miss a new project from someone I'm following. Even though I don't support the hypothetical “what if you're following 1000 people” argument, I still think that having this as a form of “notification bell” like YouTube is the best possible implementation which would satisfy those crazy people who follow everyone on the planet.

What happens if you ARE following a lot of people you know? Oh, and what about the second half? More would complain

No support. Imagine following a bunch of people on Scratch. Then you'd have a flooded inbox if they make tons of projects. I know that would drive people like me crazy!

There was a suggestion to allow users to unfollow people from the “following” page. Maybe that would interest you. Also, like I said, I would still support this as a sort of “notification bell” like on YouTube.

That's their problem for misusing Scratch features.

Those last two are the same thing… Also, I still stand by what I said. Don't follow people if you don't want to know when they release new projects.

A lot of people follow people simply because they respect or like them or something, and don't actually care for projects (see every one of my followers that followed me in the past year).

Support only if it's toggleable and separate for each followinger as I know someone who is following over 1000 people, and might want to see the projects of only certain people.

if its optional and you can choose to get notified for all of the people you follow or a select then i support if its not optional then no support

If you follow a user, it will be an option below the button

O Unfollow
☑️ Notify when they share a project

If you click the check box, it will turn that off. If you unfollow the user, the thing will disappear.

Otherwise, no support. It'll be spammy.
