[NOT REJECTED] a way to make bans public
Actually, no. it is NOT rejected. I mean the user can CHOOSE whether they want to show if they are banned. I have a quote from @za-chary saying it's not rejected, but I lost track of it :lHere's the quote: This is a rejected suggestion, see the complete list of rejected suggestions for more info.8.4 Show when users are banned
For privacy reasons, the Scratch Team does not share such account information with anyone other than the account owner. In particular, a banned user may not want to reveal the fact that they were banned to the public.

Would this be when you join or when you find out you are banned? Maybe a little button, like the button that allows you to turn comments on/off? “Show whether I am banned or not”

I'm pretty sure I saw a dupe for this a while ago, here's a suggestion about disabling comments though.

I can't see why this is useful. If you were temporarily banned, you can easily just explain that you were after you are unbanned. If you are permenatly banned, then:
It doesn't make sense for us to spend time to code something that caters to blocked users.

No support. Being banned is a punishment. You should have no control of it.

Support! I've seen it happen a lot that some people keep asking if someone is banned under a banned person's profile. With this option the banned person could just enable the setting and everyone will stop asking the same question 500 times

How would this look?

However, this still seems useful.

Yes, being banned is a punishment. However, this isn't a suggestion to “Allow Users to Unban Themselves”. This is just having users choose if it says on their profile that they are banned. No support. Being banned is a punishment. You should have no control of it.
If they were banned, they couldn't read comments. Support! I've seen it happen a lot that some people keep asking if someone is banned under a banned person's profile. With this option the banned person could just enable the setting and everyone will stop asking the same question 500 times

I've never been banned before but I'm pretty sure they can still read comments but just not answer comments? Or in the worst case, if every page is blocked for banned accounts, they could just log out of the banned account. If they were banned, they couldn't read comments. Support! Also, I was talking about hundreds of people writing the same comment and not getting a reply, not about if the block account can read the comments.

You actually cannot read comments while banned.

Ok, maybe you cant, but that wasn't my point. My point was that there are hundreds of people asking if someone is banned without ever getting an answer, with this suggestion, they would get an answer and wouldn't have to write a comment. You actually cannot read comments while banned.

8.4 Show when users are banned
For privacy reasons, the Scratch Team does not share such account information with anyone other than the account owner. In particular, a banned user may not want to reveal the fact that they were banned to the public.
However, giving a Scratcher the option to publicly show if they are banned is NOT rejected; you can discuss it on this topic.
