Since I reached the character limit I'm only posting around 60 before I get all the categories figured out. Plus, my list only contains topics with more than 40 posts in them, and you only have one topic that meets the requirement.

Would searching the content of the posts for certain keywords help? If you make a list of keywords (eg. editor, blocks, studios) I can get a list of keywords for each topic that match the content of the first posts. I don't know how accurate it would be though.

That's what I was thinking but was unsure how much human intervention would be needing. I was thinking search through each topic for uncommon nouns and words, so for a motion block suggestion, it would find words like motion, block, etc. but I'm afraid it would require too much work to code and/or computational time.

I suppose we could try the more limited option of setting a list of keywords like you said first, as any automation is better than none.

Yep, I just realized that my crappy spreadsheet uses the year one cell above instead of the topic's own year. I'll fix that.

I plan on organizing the directory in a way there are two or three main sections (e.g. editor and website) and proceed to divide that further and further. I'd like to keep each subdivision roughly equal in number of posts; as it'd both be more helpful and more aesthetically pleasing. I also plan on doing organization into categories last, but it might be done earlier.
