Updates to Following and Followers
It's not that he thinks the majority will make the decision for the ST, he's just displaying that a lot more people dislike it than like it. If /I/ owned the site, I would want to appease the majority, not 15 out of 50 (I didn't actually count, but that's what it looks like off the top of my head) people. And this will matter because the ST goes by majority vote? Let's make a list of who likes the update and who doesn't.

Problem is, this website has way more than 50 users. It's not that he thinks the majority will make the decision for the ST, he's just displaying that a lot more people dislike it than like it. -List-
No.
First off, this doesn't represent all of Scratch.
Second, as Paddle2see said, they're more persuaded by well-reasoned arguments, not a list of people who support/don't support.

If so, I'd think that it'd be changed back already.
There are so many amazing arguments on why it should be changed back. (Not including mine.

Updates to Following and Followers
Love this! Hey everyone,
You might notice your profile page looks a little bit different. Profile pages no longer display the number of Followers and Following. (You can still view this information by clicking the ‘View All’ button on the Followers / Following panel.) The number of profile comments are no longer displayed too.
Why do this? We want to make sure people see someone’s projects, studios, and connections and not focus too much on the numbers. After all, it doesn’t matter if you have 10 followers or 10,000. Scratch is a place for creating, collaborating, and supporting fellow Scratchers.
The Scratch Mentors put together an awesome remix project about “What is the meaning of followers?” http://scratch.mit.edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/projects/25999074/ Check it out and see how other Scratchers think about followers! Feel free to share your thoughts too!

Beautifully written post! Though, I don't quite agree with some parts of your post, it has certainly shed some light on the other side. And it gives me a strong feeling, as I hope it gives others, to agree to disagree. Everyone, please stop this. If the Scratch Team decided on this arrangement, there isn't a point in arguing. I know a lot of scratchers that had a bunch of followers don't like this update because… But other like this addition. I've seen multiple scratchers only talk to people because the number they have on their “followers” section. Say, if a scratcher has no followers, but has amazing coding skills, some scratchers that only focus on the number will miss out on the wonderful projects. It is just a number. It will feel better, knowing that people appreciate you by being yourself and not by the gazillion followers you have. This doesn't require disagreements or anything else. You don't need to post how many followers you have on the comments, what will that accomplish? From my point of view, this is a good addition. A lot of you have posted things like, “ It doesn't matter the number of followers.” and “There is no such thing as being famous.” and “ Don't follow for follow”, but if you don't like this new addition, I cannot see how you could believe that “Scratch isn't about the followers you have.” This doesn't need to cause a total disagreement, but a new beginning. We all have different opinions, but in my case, I support this addition.
Regards,
ZaharaMar.

Look: None of the arguments against this are any good. they might sound good but to be honest, they're kinda laughable. If there are no numbers, it makes all of those names mean a lot more than a 100 or however many you have. If you really want to know how many followers you have, you should need to acknowledge every single person who likes your work rather than seeing a couple of icons and a number.
Let me ask you this: If you followed someone with 1000 followers, would you like to be seen as one small step to the next milestone of that scratcher in which they thank “you” but are really thanking a few digit on a colorful display of lights commonly known as a monitor, or would you like to be seen as a real person who that scratcher needs to specifically look at in order to figure out how many people appreciate what they do?
I know my answer.

It's a loophole. It's not too difficult to show everyone your follower count if you can just do this…

Why even have a carousel if it only shows the last couple of followers instead of the numbers, too?

This just annoyed me. I kept track of all my followers for 5 years. It was an accomplishment when I reached 100! I'll never forgive you guys for making me lose count! >
For example: Silvershimmer43 is one of the popular scratchers and reached 2000+ Followers. How would I feel if she will never know again where 3000+ is? Seriously, most Scratchers just go on RPGs and make art, and if this continues, there will be a downfall leading to the end.
I like the update ONLY for the comments due to people posting SPAM on people's profiles, but that is just it. Keep following and comment numbers off and leave Followers happy.
In other words, I'll leave it to you. Give us happiness or give us failure!
~PJ9, Lonekat, Bladefang, Flarepelt, and my other characters along with my 100 followers (except 10 quit)

I am one of griffpatch's 10000+ followers. There, I said it. I'm not unhappy with being so, nor am I going to complain that “he has to many and it doesn't matter if he had 10 followers.” Nobody should know about griffpatch's great achievement? (Well, after all of the commotion about it dies down.
