I've always thought it looked funny that there were only 2 tabs for the search bar, for some reason.

Projects, and studios.

There should be more! Right? But what?

Users, for one. This would make all Scratchers who wanted a user search happy.

And, two, topics. This would make Scratchers who want a built-in forum search happy. Plus, it wouldn't cause spam because it only shows for users with a post count above 100. And if you click on a topic that hasn't had a post in 10 days or more, a pop-up appears warning you not to necropost.

Mockup A:

It shows users who have what you searched in their name. It is not case sensitive.

The info seen includes the rank of the Scratcher as well as how long they've been a user. I didn't include information such as the follower count for 2 reasons:

A - There wasn't much room left… XD

B - This is the main reason, follower count shouldn't matter, and it shouldn't be as important as many people think it is.

I also added new dropdowns. Instead of trending and popular, I replaced them with A to Z, Oldest to Newest, and Newest to Oldest. The reason I didn't include the trending and popular tabs was for the same reason I didn't include the follower count.

I will include Mockup B, a mockup with how the “Topics” page looks, along with information explaining it later. Currently, I've already spent WAY too much time making this post, mostly because of the mockup. XD

Well, this suggestion is sort of a merge of the searching for users suggestion and the searching for topics suggestion, but in a nice detailed bundle.

I don't think this would be classified as a “duplicate.” (Hopefully, I spent like 2 hours (No joke) on the mock up )

Yes, it looks really good, I gotta say, but I mean, a quick and dirty thingy would do the job too.
And it's at least on my screen 4:3. 4:3 is sooo underrated!

That looks awesome!!! I also like that you replaced the tabs, because when searching a small-ish category the most popular things are usually from 1.4 times-around 2016. So I scroll down to the bottom to find newer stuff, but it won't load anymore projects after 3 “load mores!” And I always have wanted a forum search and others have wanted a user search (I don't need one because I uses scratchstats.com, but would REALLY like a topic search).

I hope the scratch team can do something like this!

This is a good idea! To fix the attention to the forum problem, maybe it would only appear if that user had made a post in the forum before?

What do other people think of this? I like it. Maybe not 1 post though, maybe once you hit 100? Or 10?

I'm thinking 100 because if you have 100 posts you probably already know the basic rules of the forums.

Support! This could be useful. Especially to prevent duplicates in the forums

Im afraid that the topics one would lead to a lot more necroposting since more users would have access to old topics… If there was a way around that then this suggestion, to me, would basically be perfect.

Hm, that would be a problem. Maybe on the forums page, it filters out anything that hasn't been posted on for a set amount of time?

Maybe there isn't an oldest to newest on the topic search?

When I make mockup B, and when I include more information about the topic search, hopefully then I could smooth some stuff out.

Yeah, one hundred would work fine!

Although that may be considered a achievement since it does unlock something.

maybe the forum search would be separate from the main search, as most “casual” scratchers rarely use the forums.
provided the forum search gets fixed
