Update the bad word detector
Right — I don't think we'll be getting rid of the extensions policy, but we're not going to stop people from asking us to do so. If they do ask, we'll just link them to the official notice anyway.Congralations you've invented censorship, here's one dystopia as a prize. 4. Have the bad word detector go off if they say “Get rid of the Extensions policy!!!!”.
There is no reason to ban this.

Seems like a weirdly specific thing for the bad word detector to catch, anyway. There's a lot of ways to say that same thing (e.g. “I don't think the new extensions policy is a good idea.”) and the bad word detector likely wouldn't catch that if all it's looking for is “Get rid of the extensions policy.” I don't think it would be very effective.

Update the bad word detector
Semi Support. This may improve things, but cause other problems.
Congrats on making people feel worse than they already might be. No Support for this, unless it goes away after some time. 2. Remove the X button on the bad word detector because people could use that as a way to get rid of it So have it always display so no one can forget about it.
What if your computer is silent? 3. When the bad word detector appears, it makes a sound to tell you that you typed in a bad word.
Wouldn't that just create more “protests”, so to say? Also, that's kinda.. authoritarian. No Support. 4. Have the bad word detector go off if they say “Get rid of the Extensions policy!!!!”.
I really don't think that would work. 5. Add links leading to browser extensions..
Bat Word? 6. Make the bad word detector go off if you type in something like B** W***.

Sorry, I don't think we'll be doing that. We believe that the potential risks outweigh the benefits. The full explanation can be found here: https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/discuss/topic/284272/Yeah, can you please remove the extensions policy. ~snip~

Update the bad word detector
Support. Makes project censoring a lot better.
Think of a project/comment with bad words in it. The Bad Word detector COULD scan the project or comment and remove its bad words if it's minor, but probably remove the project or comment if it's major. This is a suggestion for the project/comment censorship, lol.
Also I would think inappropriate raps from projects could also get removed.
P.S. Why not use the bad word detector for strikes you own? I think of a new block of it as well…

<bad word detector strikes = [] :: sensing>here is the block used in script:
if <bad word detector strikes = [] :: sensing> thenSo yeah, that's the end
say [Sorry, we can't let bullies on this project. Come back when the bad word detector strikes have been removed!]
else
. . .
end

Doesn't that exclude people? For instance, someone might have typed something that wasn't bad, but the bad word detector gave them a strike. This would probably be a super annoying block, because you may not be able to see a project because something that you didn't even do. P.S. Why not use the bad word detector for strikes you own? Update the bad word detector
Yes, it includes people, but if the bad word detector mis-scanned a project, the Scratch Team might give them an accidental report, like this:snipDoesn't that exclude people? For instance, someone might have typed something that wasn't bad, but the bad word detector gave them a strike. This would probably be a super annoying block, because you may not be able to see a project because something that you didn't even do.
Before:
(Insert example alert here)
After:
Hey, Scratcher, we're sorry we reported your project/comment. We've decided it does NOT harm the community guidelines, as stated in our project/comment terms. Remember, when YOU think a project is inappropriate, hit the “Report” button and tell us why. Thanks!
So is the bad word detector accidentally removed a nice project or comment, the Scratch team would notify them at first, use the bad word detector to check again, and if it DOES contain bad words, the project/comment is deleted. If it doesn't, it will keep the comment/project on the pages.

I support it mostly, but users should be able to at least minimize the bad word detector so it’s not in the way. Also, the sound might be disturbing.

Support! We need a better detector! Sometimes (rarely) I just type a comment and then…
2. There is a workaround: (edit: this is kind of a workaround, not a 100% workaround)
Yeah. That's a bad word!
(snip)1. I don't support this idea.<bad word detector strikes = [] :: sensing>

people still shouldn't swear on website in which is made for 8 to 16 year olds, 8 year olds don't need to learn swears. No support. All it does is make Scratch stricter.
Scratch is so safe, we need to go uphill, not downhill.

Support for everything other thanOk. So here is a situation for you. 8 year old kid, posting a comment. They post a bad word in a non-bad way, not knowing it is also a bad word. They get the alert. They see the bad word. They learn a new bad word. They start saying it in real life. Bad. Bad. Bad. Not kid friendly.
but like, they already know the swear, they just don't know it's a swear. If they used the swear in project, they will probably use it irl if they don't know it's a swear. That would probably have someone tell them it's a swear, so they would learn it's a swear anyways.

No support for the ban, but support for the rest. The timeout could help give users time to reflect on their mistakes, and the alert would.help them acknowledge.
