Scratch had nearest-neighbor upscaled every single image by 200%, and then resaved them as jpg, incurring quality loss.
Support. It's kind of annoying when you're making a tutorial with screenshots, and then when you upload the screenshots, everything becomes really pixely and sort of hard to see.

I found a way to still upload good images to scratch.
Edit the project save file on your PC, replace the terrible image with the right one, upload to website.

After a quick test, I found out that this is possible and it does work, but this extremely time consuming procedure shouldn't be necessary in the first place. In addition, the replaced image was off center and had to be displayed at 200% size using the size block. This demonstrates that Scratch's handling of raster images is boneheaded and redundant - scale up the images, taking up more space than needed, and incurring quality loss in the case of JPGs, only to display them at 50%, canceling out the upscaling and defeating its purpose in the first place. This is true, however, in both Scratch 2 and 3 if you import a large raster image or make one in the paint editor, it will be displayed at four times the stage's resolution. In Scratch 3 the Scratch Team decided to scale all images, saying “Then storage will not need to keep track of bitmapResolution anymore in scratch 3” (see After a quick test, I found out that this is possible and it does work, but this extremely time consuming procedure shouldn't be necessary in the first place. Good idea, they should also let you select the picture quality by yourself.

It's good etiquette to wait 24 hours to bump, as Network has said, in order to give other people a chance to have their posts seen. So please, only bump it every 24 hours. But it's not against the rules, you can bump anytime you want as long as the topic is not on the first page.Still, give more people a chance. It can be bumped if it's on the 2nd page.* every 24 hours please * bump (it's on 2nd page)
