How to help fight Art theft
Sadly, art theft is a huge problem on Scratch but i feel like i can help so please please read this :)
1. Water marks
On deviant art you can add a water mark a semi-transparent kind of ‘block’ that goes over the image with your user name in it this will keep people from taking screenshots and or downloading sprites, helping catch art thefts
2. No-remix
This is a simple button you can click that will prevent remixing, i just had a UPDATE PROTECT remixed, this was about my life and i don't see how that could be used!? also some people just don't want their hard work remixed and just recolored. this will help prevent awkward situations, having to report people who don't bother to read so they do not know not to remix.
3. No download
This will prevent people from downloading your sprites and using them in other projects, because some people don't want their sprites used and some who dont care keep getting art ‘stolen’ because people forget to credit or are to young to care, this can also be part of the No-remix settings but can also be used just by itself so the sprite and backgrounds can only be used in remixes of that project, this might come in handy for CC's
Please consider this would help prevent art theft and scratcher's leaving from getting art stolen, uncredited, and much more!
I understand the creative commons license but that does not mean stealing is right!

#1: deviantART != Scratch. We've dealt with this already. Live with the fact that people can take your stuff and change it and you can't stop them (exceptions notwithstanding)
#2/3: Please read the list of REJECTED suggestions. If someone copied your project/art, as in not changed ABSOLUTELY NOTHING at all, then you can report it.

This would be almost impossible to implement, especially the bit about only using downloaded assets in projects or remixes. 3. No download

If they post them they are agreeing that people can remix/steal stuff. I am not saying scratch should be like DA i am just saying we could do some things DA is doing that scratch could do to make people more comfortable posting things they worked hard on.

However, in this context, it means share what you upload, including your art.

yes share what you drew with others it says nowhere they have a right to simply recolor it and claim it as their work….

They do have that right, but they must give credit to you.

As my government teacher once taught, the framers of the U.S. Constitution wanted to explicitly include the rights that were absolutely necessary, then imply that they have far more rights than what are simply listed ( yes share what you drew with others it says nowhere they have a right to simply recolor it and claim it as their work….9th Amendment).
What I'm trying to say here is that the Community Guidelines may say absolutely nothing about what constitutes a remix, but through the Creative Commons license it implies that a remix includes anything different than the original, including re-colors.

I'm sorry it has to come to this reality, but you agreed to the remixing policy when you joined Scratch. If you didn't read or know about it, it's not our fault. If you don't agree with it, it's not the Scratch Team's job to change it to your liking. Their policy stands on the freedom to remix, good and bad alike.
Instead of quitting, I suggest you take advantage of the remixing policy. Share art that encourages users to remix it, make it silly or cool. Keep the art you don't want remixed on your private profile (not on Scratch).
