Welcome to the bootlegs thread! Here we share funny, weird, or just plain cursed bootlegs. Bootlegs are knockoff products of official things. Mario, Pokemon, and My Little Pony are frequently victims to being bootlegged. On the original bootlegs thread, there was one Winnie the Pooh knockoff that was really popular called GouT. Feel free to discuss it here.

It isn't known where this term came from (at least as far as I know), however it originally meant pirated music and computer software at least that was the first result that showed up on Google) Here, we're mostly focusing on knockoff games, toys, movies, and anything in between.

boot +‎ leg. Originally a nickname given to smugglers in King George III's reign, derived from the smugglers' custom of hiding packages of valuables in their large sea-boots when dodging the king's coastguardsmen.

But, to prevent getting too offtopic, we need to have some rules in place! Please respect them.


-Because this thread is made specifically for bootleg products, please refrain from discussing official products. However, sharing images of the original products for comparison is okay. For instance, if someone sent a picture of a bootleg Xbox controller, they could send a picture of an official one to show what it's supposed to look like.

-Even though Obvious Plant's creations aren't “bootlegs”, you can still share his parodies here as long as they are based upon real products/franchises, such as his Revengers line. Other people’s parodies are allowed, too.

-Please don't mention Starland Krew here unless you're referring to Starland Krew bootlegs. It's caused some heated arguments here, and I want it to stop. If you want to discuss Starland Krew, please discuss it on the Starland Krew discussion thread, which can be found here https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/discuss/topic/411501/

-If a bootleg image is really big, please send it as a link to the image rather than sending the full image. You can do it like this

-It's okay to send multiple bootlegs in one post, like DanceMonkey does. However, from now on, I'd prefer if bootleg compilations had a specific theme, such as various My Little Pony knockoffs.

-Sending pictures of official products that look like bootlegs is allowed!
