If we had mature users, yes, but we have lots immature users who will harass each other about it.

Yeah. Not supporting for the reasons:
1. Users may not be happy when they find out someone unfollowed them, even if they didn't do anything bad.
2. Someone could be constantly spamming that follow button thus flooding the notifications.
3. User might complain to the user who unfollowed them.
4. Bullying would happen more because of this.
5. As another user said, I don't want to feel guilty about unfollowing someone.

I read the first “edit” to the OP. I do not believe that this will fix problems. The user who gets unfollowed will still be emotional because of the fact that someone unfollowed them, even if they do not know who unfollowed them.

I just reached 200 yesterday, somebody else followed me, and then some other people (2 of them) unfollowed me!

Please be constructive and say why this is a good idea.

No support. Most of scratch's userbase are young, a feature like this would just be asking for arguments, gossip and drama, which we already have problems with as it is- heck, people even get into arguments over this on adult sites. Unfollowing someone should never be made into a big deal.

Let's have a fictional situation involving Users A and B, where A is following B.

User A unfollows User B because they are no longer interested in their projects, or because User B has been inactive for awhile. User B comes back to Scratch one day and sees the notification, throws a temper tantrum, and starts spamming “Y U UNFDOLLWOESD MEEEEEEEE?!?!?!?!?!” and harassing User A.

Given that many users on Scratch are on the younger side and are relatively not as mature, wouldn't that type of situation happen a lot?

No support. they can just spam your message notifications and easily annoy someone, it can also hurt someones feelings as well. i rather just to keep the “_____ followed you” Thing instead of unfollow.

That can be done WITHOUT it. If they spam the follow button, and you will still get spammed!

Maybe we could just implement a notification system stating the number of followers, rather than who did or didn't follow you..? Just trying to be helpful…

(This repeats for thousands of times.)
Or in other words, it could cause spam.
Second, why would this exist. To get mad at your ex-follower, to report the person who unfollowed you for no reason, to rage at the person who you think made a terrible desicion, WHILE NOT REALIZING YOU STILL HAVE LOTS OF FOLLOWERS?!
In other words, never supporting this.

It's a nice idea and I understand how it could be useful but it would be upsetting to know if someone unfollowed you. It would be like someone commenting “I don't like your projects.”
