Making No Advertising a Community Guideline
So pretty much everyone on Scratch doesn't like advertising. And since I know that is a problem, I think it would be a good idea to put no advertising as a community guideline. This would help because a lot of new scratchers don't understand about advertising. I think this would reduce a lot of advertising seeing as advertising would be a legitimately reportable offense that advertisers would be afraid of. If you don't support, please give your reasons why.
Thanks!-@scratchjack1234

Extra Note: I mean advertising as in posting links and other things on other people's stuff. Doing it on your own stuff is fine

Maybe it should go under “Be constructive” like…
When commenting on others' projects, say something you like about it and offer suggestions. Remember to keep everything related to the project, and don't advertise your own projects on someone else's.
Maybe?
this was off the top of my head

yeah that sounds good. I guess making it a whole new rule would be a bit too far Maybe it should go under “Be constructive” like…

It technically is, but I'd say support for adding something about that in the CG, as well as spam.

No Support. Advertising projects is not a violation, and it actually something that is useful to get noticed. I know Scratch isn't about being popular, but I doubt this rule would be fair. This should only be violated for comments in a project. So pretty much everyone on Scratch doesn't like advertising. And since I know that is a problem, I think it would be a good idea to put no advertising as a community guideline. This would help because a lot of new scratchers don't understand about advertising. What if someone makes a project asking people to suggest projects for them to try? What if someone says on their profile that they enjoy X kinds of projects and people are free to tell them about projects about X on their profile? I think the guideline should be don't advertise in places that don't want advertisements. -snip-
well that's what I meant, projects and profiles. Other things would be still allowed

You just need to tell them the right way. Instead of just saying “don't advertise” mention things like “Many Scratchers find it annoying” and “Try here instead: https:scratch.mit.edu” Support. I hate telling every newb on scratch to stop the advertising. then they don't listen and say “thx1!1!!111!!!! chek OuT my gAmE”
I support this even though you already can report advertising.

Advertising is allowed in certain places, like on your own projects/studios, the Show and Tell forum, and in your siggy.

Semi-support
This would be useful if you say that you can't on other people's stuff.
But you are allowed to advertise on your stuff, signature, and the Show and Tell forum.

Yep, if it's like this, support. I never experienced someone to advertise on my projects, but i know it's very annoying. Maybe it should go under “Be constructive” like…
