Shortcut Keys for Quickly Performing Options in Scratch

Almost all professional programs have shortcut keys to quickly jump from one menu or option to the other. So, why not Scratch?
ctrl-p open paint editor
ctrl-s open sound editor
ctrl-r run the project
You get the point. Once you learn all of the shortcut keys, it'll be much quicker (well, not that much) to create projects

Let's suggest keys.

F5: Run
Shift + F5: Run the Project in Full Screen.
F1: Help Section
F2: Wiki

Uh… I got nothing else…

Maybe pressing the “tab” key will switch between the Scripts, Costumes and Sounds tabs?

I like this idea.

i think some shortcuts will conflict with the browser shortcuts. So the F5 Sonickyle suggested will not work in some browsers because it is the refresh key.

I think we shouldn't need also too many shortcuts.
And are the shortcuts to switch to the script, costume and sound tab really needed? It's just one mouse click and after switching you need the mouse again

You could say that about many shortcuts. For example, after you hit Ctrl+S to save a document, you then have to use the mouse to specify where you want it saved.

Have you used Blender? Because if you have, you'll know that the hotkeys are used all the time, even though there is a workaround with the mouse for every single one of them. Scratch isn't as good as other programs such as Blender for getting your ideas onto the screen. You have to move the mouse so much that it can sometimes be difficult to to get complex ideas onto the screen quickly before you forget them.

Also, I think this isn't an issue of why, but why not? You showed one example of how it might not work, but there are many, many alternatives that could be used.

And if you use a touchpad?

I honestly don't see why not.

It is used very often it doesn't mean it is very useful. When some one jumps off a bridge you don't have to do the same. So it's true that you can find them almost everywhere, but they aren't needed.

When i got a complex idea it was te result of many thoughts about it and then it is so complex, that i can't forget the whole thing, only a few small parts which can be fastremembered when needed.Btw, it's the opposide, in Scratch i can programm much faster and better than in java, because theere you have to write sometimes very big things without any misstakes. So i forget there much more some things, because i have to concentrade on how i type

Yes, okay. I do not need them and i do know many other poeple who use shortcuts only in games. But when many other people need it and the ST has time to implement them without conflict with browser then they can do

Flash Grabs the keyboard when you click on it, like you can use the up and down keys to change the volume and left and right keys to skip.
If the page refreshes when you press F5 while Flash has grabbed your keyboard, that's bad programing right there.

I would like it if there where chortcuts for adding operator blocks. For example: If I'm going to use a “move ()” and whant to add two things as the amount of movement i would like to be able to wright “10+” thus automaticly adding an addition block “(10) + (…)”.

A short cut I would like to see is when you are trying to find a key for the “key pressed” block, pressing the key you are looking (on your keyboard) for inputs it.

No support because Ctrl is used for other things that are part of the computer and you might have someone ending up accidentally shutting down their computer or other stuff.

Maybe a different key instead of control. Also, I don’t think their are any control combinations that would cause something bad (besides control P, which is actually print, not paste.)
