Very mild violence allowed in featured projects
Currently any projects with even the tiniest level of violence or fighting, even if it's cartoony or Minecraft style, are not allowed to be featured.
My suggestion is to allow a bit of very mild violence in featured projects.
Why?
There are lots of high quality projects such as adventure or RPG games that contain a little mild fighting but cannot be featured due to the “violence”. This would help quality projects get attention but nothing too violent would be allowed to be featured.
What is “very mild violence”?
Minecraft style fighting unrealistic mobs, cartoon violence as in kids TV shows, character fighting really unrealistic non scary monsters with no blood, and so on.
Such as anything that would be rated PEGI 7+ or E10+ (any violence in 7+ or E10+ games is generally very mild)
Here are responses to a few reasons why people wouldn't support the suggestion.
“Wouldn't this give way for inappropriate content to be shown on Scratch?”
No, it wouldn't. My suggestion is that only really mild fighting or violence would be allowed. Any games more violent than that would not be allowed. The type of content I'm counting as “mild” is not anything that could be considered inappropriate. So there won't be any graphic bloody shooters allowed to be featured. Just really mild stuff.
“Parents and teachers would think Scratch was a violent site and not let kids on it!”
As addressed above, nothing too violent would be allowed on the front page, so there would be nothing objectionable for parents/teachers there. Parents wouldn't be reluctant to let their kids on a site with just Minecraft level fighting.
“But then Scratch would be front paging violent projects that could be inappropriate for kids!”
As already mentioned it's just really really mild violence and projects with more violence would not be featured and could be marked NFE if required.
The type of “mild violence” I'm referring to is nothing that would be considered inappropriate (see above)
“This would encourage users to create more inappropriate content!”
It certainly wouldn't - any mild violence would not be considered inappropriate in any sense of the word. Inappropriate projects would just be removed.
Please support and add your thoughts.

No I haven't made other posts about this particular suggestion. The other one was about removing the NFE and isn't the same thing. Isn't this the 5th time you're reposting this?

Minecraft style might be a bit much, but other cartoony styles I will support for.
Although my project The New Job got featured and also had a character literally get hospitalized three times
I suppose that wasn't really violent though

I would probably disagree with the part about Minecraft - a lot of very young kids (even as young as 4-5) play it and it's not realistic at all. Minecraft style might be a bit much, but other cartoony styles I will support for.

Seriously though, Scratch doesn't have to cater to 1-year-olds!

They wouldn't because the ST still would only feature projects with very mild violence and inappropriate ones would be removed. Also it's not as though the ST will be obliged to start featuring loads of projects with fighting, just that they aren't banned from being featured anymore. people might get a bit carried away with this won't they?

The age demographic isn't that old, but they should at least allow mild (not very mild) violence.

I'm pretty sure mild is fine. Projects that are bloody and gory aren't mild.

Support. I'm sure 99% of 8 year olds can handle cartoony punching in a video game

This should be allowed. I don't see any abuse to this because of how much you're quoting very mild.

No support because you can remix a project to not have violence (even mild violence). Then the remix can be featured.

This wouldn't work because it would ruin the point of the game. Let's say there's an action adventure game that deserves to be featured but has mild violence, removing it would defeat the point of the game. If the violence is the point of the game, it shouldn't be on the front page. I think we just have to be creative in thinking up ways to make and improve on projects so they are for everyone. Then the front page can be achieved. This wouldn't work because it would ruin the point of the game. I guess this would be fine. You have my support, though this is me not just talking of projects dedicated to fighting. VERY MILD violence only, kept at that. A small animation intro or something including this could be super effective.

Mild violence is basically as much as someone punching another person in the face and there is no blood.

Whoa, that's worse than I thought.

There are so many ways to make things without violence that it is better to do that. Like instead of a ninja that throws throwing stars, they could throw waffles. And when opponents get hit, they go to time out. Or they become focused on eating a waffle. Then the ninja could sneak by.

The problem with violence is that each family (or guardian moderating what children see) have different views of what is “too violent” for their kids to watch. Plus, every country has a different rating of appropriate content, some allowing more violence than others.
