Closing topics in less than 24 hours
Hi.
I don't really see a reason for you not being able to close topics unless 24 hours have passed since the topic was first started. Take some random post in “Help with Scripts”, for example. It could be solved in 30 mins, and then people can start spamming there! Plus, I don't really see a need for this inability at all. If someone can give me a good reason for this, it'll be OK. If you support this, just say so. Same if you do not.
So do you agree?
Hey. While writing this post I thought of a good reason for this inability. People can start spamming the forums! (Like they couldn't do that already) However if they do, the post/topic can be deleted and the person will be given an alert for spamming the forums. By that, I mean creating a topic that
doesn't have anything to do with… OK never mind
this is just getting confusing.
EDIT: Maybe not closing them STRAIGHT AWAY maybe after some time like thirty minutes

Semi-support; I would support if it was like one hour or something.

well, they could do that, but the topic would be too new to close, so you would have to wait and then you can close the topic.

I would say support, but I think they do it to prevent people from posting something and then immediately closing it just to be able to spread a message without getting any responses.

Support. If you made a topic, and suddenly people spam there minutes (or seconds) after, what do you do, just let them do it for another few hours? Of course not! It isn't going to help, because it is only getting worse. Why not do something right away?

You know what, I looked at this again and I realized that this is a great idea! I don't know what I was saying in that earlier response. I would love for the closing period to be lower than 24 hours (maybe like 3-12 hours).

what's wrong with reporting the post and suggesting it to be closed?

The Scratch Team doesn't respond for all reports. Sometimes there is so much that not everything will be done. It's just like Contact Us. what's wrong with reporting the post and suggesting it to be closed?

I beg to differ: every time I've reported a post as a duplicate, to be moved etc, it's been responded to in less than ~30 mins. The Scratch Team doesn't respond for all reports. Anyway, maybe if it's after an hour? I believe the current restriction is in place…
Seems fair enough, but 24 hours is a pretty long time. to prevent people from posting something and then immediately closing it just to be able to spread a message without getting any responses.

You know, it didn't take me 30 minutes for an unnecessary topic to be removed. A day later it was still there and then it disappeared.I beg to differ: every time I've reported a post as a duplicate, to be moved etc, it's been responded to in less than ~30 mins. The Scratch Team doesn't respond for all reports. Still, doesn't mean I'm wrong. Scratch Team can't handle a million things at once.
I mean, some people should sometimes stand up for themselves, not just go to someone just because they can't do it. It's like kids can't always be with their parents for their entire life (with a few exceptions), they need a job, find somebody to spend time with, have their own home, etc.

So you're suggesting a 60-minute rule for closing topics? ugh
Jokes aside, I think an hour would be a good time limit, instead of 24. I agree that Help with Scripts topics can be quickly resolved.
An alternate suggestion would be to have specific limits for each sub-forum. 24 hours is fine for Suggestions; maybe 30 minutes for Help with Scripts? and I guess 60 minutes for Requests? idk, just speculation.
Anyway, support for a 1-hour limit instead of a 24-hour limit.

That's basically my point. but 24 hours is a pretty long time.
Actually I never thought of that. But topics in the Requests forum don't close very often so maybe that could be 24 hours as well. I think an hour would be a good time limit, instead of 24. I agree that Help with Scripts topics can be quickly resolved.

Yeah. The Scratch Team doesn't respond for all reports. Sometimes there is so much that not everything will be done. It's just like Contact Us.
Off-topic: Is it possible for Scratch Team members to re-open topics? It could be useful if you accidentally closed a topic.

Thing is, the reason for this is because a user might just make a spam topic and then close it, or close a topic simply because they have no answers to it.
Also, even after a topic is answered there might be useful info to add, such as maybe exceptions to a certain rule the OP was asking about.
No support, if you really need to close a topic in less than 24 hours, report it to be closed.

But then it could be useful in case quickly it gets spammy and has lots of unrelated contents. Thing is, the reason for this is because a user might just make a spam topic and then close it, or close a topic simply because they have no answers to it.

Besides, there will probably be answers to a topic in about or less than 60 minutes. This isn't suggesting to close a topic every minute.

Pretty true, this would be pretty useful. I'd say around 1 ~ 2 hours.

I did think about that but later I added something to my post saying that maybe after an hour or thirty minutes. I still like kenny2scratch's idea.
