I remember when I was on DeviantArt a few months back. The good old days..
Anyway, on that site, when you clicked a link that went off any DeviantArt page, it'd tell you that you were going offsite and would ask if you'd like to continue to the site or go back to DA.
I kinda thought it would be cool if Scratch had this feature too. Considering Scratch is aimed more at younger users than DA, it is probably a good idea for younger users to know where they're going.
-
Essentially, this page has a white background, and a picture of a Scratch Cat. At the top, it says “You're now leaving scratch.mit.edu”, and then there's a note that says; “You're going offsite. While we trust our community to keep from posting harmful links, it's a good idea to make sure you know where you're going. Continue?” There then will be a few options, “No, I'd like to stay on Scratch” or “Yes, I'd like to continue to (link)”. Selecting the first option will take you back to the homepage, but selecting the second option will take you to the link. There also might be a “report harmful link” option if the link ends up going to a place that has inappropriate content or is a site that contains unmoderated chat.
-
Obviously enough, this message only shows up if you get linked to anywhere that is outside the main site, discussion forums, or the wiki. I'm not sure if it'll show up or not when linked to CubeUpload or whitelisted image hosting sites or not..
-
EDIT: If you want to see an example of what the “You're now leaving DeviantArt” message looks like, here it is:

..I mean, obviously the Scratch version would look different, replacing Fella with Scratch Cat, changing the color scheme, and changing the wording and stuff a little.
-
There also would be an option in Account Settings to turn this on or off in case you go to offsite links a lot and don't want to click something extra each time

I am a little unsure about how it'd work myself. Not to mention that I'm not sure if sites like CubeUpload have this message or not.. Can't be so sure about this.

I think it's a great idea; I can already imagine how the Scratch Cat could look, probably waving to you like “see ya” or something. XD
I think it would really help out with making sure people know where they're going, and have a second chance to turn back if it was a misclick or something.

It's a great idea, and would definitely be great for younger Scratchers regarding internet safety and knowing where they are going, but all I see when I think about this is how annoying it will be to always go to this page before the desired link. It would take more time, especially if you have slow internet. Maybe it could be an option.

Isn't Scratch Wiki a separate website? It would be weird if the message popped up when you're trying to go to the wiki..
Anyways…I support.
Anyways…I support.

It's wiki.scratch.mit.edu, meaning it's a different part of the same website: scratch.mit.edu. Isn't Scratch Wiki a separate website? It would be weird if the message popped up when you're trying to go to the wiki..
Anyways…I support.
I also support this, though there should be an option to turn it off.

Sort of, but tbh that format isn't exactly readable. It makes its point for sure, but maybe it doesn't set up discussion too well. Maybe it'd be better to let this thread stand. Is this a duplicate?

I already said in the OP, “Obviously enough, this message only shows up if you get linked to anywhere that is outside the main site, discussion forums, or the wiki.” Isn't Scratch Wiki a separate website? It would be weird if the message popped up when you're trying to go to the wiki..

Please don't quote the entire OP. It makes the page excessively long. i have offsite links that work

Does anyone want to see a picture of the “You're going offsite” message that appears on DeviantArt, just so you can get an idea of what I mean?

Okay, I'll try to find an example of it..Does anyone want to see a picture of the “You're going offsite” message that appears on DeviantArt, just so you can get an idea of what I mean?
mkay (that means yes)
Found one. I mean, obviously it'd replace Fella (the DeviantArt mascot) with Scratch Cat, and might change the wording a slight bit, and would edit the color scheme to be more Scratch-colored

I should try to make a mockup of this soon, but I'll obviously mess up really badly..
(and bump)
