I like how you now have tips, BUT WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE DISCUSS BUTTON? I need my discuss button, NOW

Yay! This is so cool! I do wish there was still a discuss link in an easier place to reach. Maybe it will be added somewhere else!

I don't like how you removed the “Discuss” button. I think the amount of new forum users will decrease exponentially when they don't know about such a wonderful place.

I like the inclusion of a tips bar, but I'm not too stoked about the “Discuss” option being removed…
I can't find the “Discuss” option inside of the footer. Is that meant to happen? It seems like “Tips” is still there, though.
I think I did- when you click on Explore, Tips, About, search something, or even look at the bottom of this forum, there are five dedicated columns in a gray section: About, Community, Support, Legal, and Scratch Family. You have to scroll completely to the bottom. "Discussion Forums“ are the second thing down under ”Community".
Hope this helps,
@nutcracker_girl

How about replacing about on the header with discuss?

Hate this change. Maybe they could remove the ‘About’ page, since most people only look at it once or twice (if at all). The tips page is not really an addition, especially to normal Scratchers, since it just shows the normal tutorials, the same as the ones in the editor. So this feature doesn't really help at all. Personally, I think discuss is more important than a page with template projects. They could show that on the home page?!

On my old main I didn’t even know the footer existed and half-a-year after I joined I realised there was one thereI guess that is true. However how often do people even read the footer? I'm guessing less than people click on discuss. I didn't even see it there until someone said it was under community. However I still feel that the ST should promote the forums instead of try to hide them even more. Also I didn't even know what discuss meant until I clicked it and realized it was forums. That site was Roblox.Hey, look at the bright side. Nooooooooooo. The discuss option was already the most obscure option. I didn't even know it existed until I saw a link in a curated project. And I didn't even know the full extent of what discuss was for until this year. Making it even more obscure is a bad idea. New Scratchers who need help with scripts that aren't in tips or have a question about Scratch aren't going to know where to look now. New Scratchers who don't know about the forums may try to post comments that were their function on featured projects creating more spam. I don't even see where the discuss is in the footer. Instead of pushing the forums aside you should promote them. Did you even do a poll to see if most people who didn't click the button didn't know they exists instead of them being not interested in them. I also don't see how this promotes the other options. All this appears to do is make the search bar bigger, and I used it even more rarely then the forums. I feel that removing the discuss button is a step back for Scratch, and I am hoping right now that this isn't the beginning of a road of step backs like another site I used to be on because I like to program in Scratch and I hope that updates won't one day take the joy out of it.
At least it has “forums” in the name on the link, now.It was confusing with it called “Discuss”, I initially thought it was just a place for parents to talk about how great the program is. Oops.

It's wierd that there are so many things they could improve here but instead they want to diminish the social aspect on Scratch.

Hi!
Sorry, I'm french ^^
I think (sorry ^^) isn't a good idea. Maybe delete the "About“ button, it's already on the bottom of the page, and pleaaaase add the ”Discuss“ button. If it's for help new Scratchers, the ”Discuss" is one of the most important buttons. You can ask any question, everybody can help you, it's coooool! Please, (re)change this. The last menu was better than this one
Hey !

Question for the Scratch team: Is space availability the only reason for removing the discuss tab? Because I've got a number of ideas for solutions, as do many others, but it would be a waste of time to peruse them if there's no hope of getting discuss back. Is it worth my time to create some mockups and maybe even write some code, or is the tab gone for other reasons as well?

They actually replaced “Help” with “Tips”. Read the OP again for their reasoning. Question for the Scratch team:

It's strange. This was supposed to be a discussion about how great the new Tips section is, but in reality it has just turned into a “return discuss please” page. If there's this much outcry on the day it's changed, clearly a mistake has been made.

Dear Scratch Team,

Please, just consider bringing “Discuss” back. I used Inspect Element, fixed it in three seconds (with the link and everything), and took the screenshot. It shouldn't be difficult at all to just add the link inside of the page. Especially considering the fact that it would take up the same amount of space as it used to in the old header, as “Tips” has the same amount of characters as “Help”. Even in other languages, I highly doubt it would be that big of an issue.
Now, about the argument that the Discuss link being removed encourages Create and Explore, as well as becoming a better Scratcher, that's strictly not true. After all, the place was already pretty obscure (now becoming even more obscure), so of course it did not deter a lot of people from creating projects or checking out others. However, even if they did go to the forums, it'd be extremely helpful to anyone needing help. What's better: A page full of tips for Scratchers, or asking for help and getting exact specific answers to help them out from experienced Scratchers? That second place is what the forums can be for almost anyone. You can also advertise, making your projects more popular, ask basic questions, and get ideas for projects.
And no, don't just think “well they can check out the footer”, because that's just not something people do. Trust me, the forums were quite obscure before due to the “Discuss” name not being specific (if it were to come back, just name it “forums”), but now that they're in the footer, nobody will view it except the people who were already here. Nobody new will be trying to join. Believe me, NOBODY checks the footer except for people looking for the wiki, wiki editors checking for references, or people just linking to the Terms of Use or Community Guidelines, which is a small amount of people relative to the vast amount of people on the Scratch website.
And about the reasoning that “It doesn't get enough clicks”, removing it doesn't seem to solve any problems here. You're just taking something that was obscure… And making it more obscure? Why would that be a good idea?
Please consider this entire thing. Thanks.
