What will happen to your stuff on Beta?
When we launch on May 9, projects you created on this Beta website will remain in Scratch 2.0. However, other things such as studios, comments, and views, may not make the transition. We are trying to find a way to keep these things, but it will be very challenging and we cannot give a definite answer until we launch Scratch 2.0 on May 9.
All your stuff from Scratch 1.4 including projects, galleries, comments, and views will be moved to Scratch 2.0.
Scratch on!

What about cloud data? Will the variables be deleted?

Will love-its and favorites make it?
Also, maybe there could be a possibility to take a snapshot of both the 2.0 site and the 1.4 site and mesh them together. For example, if three people loved it on one site and two on another, and they are all different people, it would turn into five love-its, unless the same person loved it on both sites. But seriously, I wouldn't mind if a few comments got erased (And some other stuff)

If you have 2 projects that are the same, 1 on beta and 1 on 1.4, but you recently modified stuff on the project on beta, which will go to 2.0 in the transition?

Are the versions of projects that were made in 1.4 that are on the beta site synced with the ones on the 1.4 site? Ex. I made change to a program on beta, is that change effecting the 1.4 site version as well? If it is not synced between sites, which sites version will be in scratch 2.0?

Couldn't you just add both sites together? I would be fine with duplicate projects, studios, etc with their own stats and URL.

Lightnin said that would get really hairy… but they said they would keep them if buglessly possible!

Why not just change the URL of the site?

I noticed that some of my newer projects and galleries weren't on this site– is the team going to work on that more?

Precisely! We'd love to do it - and I know it sounds really easy. But it *really* isn't. Sayamindu will be running his brain at high RPMs just to get the migration to work successfully - it takes his super fast computer like a day and half just to do all the calculations. After that, he'll do his best to keep the love its, studios, and comments. But I'm afraid we can't promise we'll be able to do it.

Yes! We'll definitely bring all your projects, comments, love its, galleries and views from the old site to the new.
Not sure what you mean, Fanta? We will be changing the URL of beta. scratch to regular old scratch.mit.edu. But that won't help with the database merge - that takes a lot of work (one reason why we're going to be down for 3 days.) Why not just change the URL of the site?

In that case, the projects that was edited on beta will supersede the original. So there will be just one project - the beta version.
Thanks to everyone for being patient and understanding! Keep your fingers crossed that we can save as much of the beta data as possible!

I mean like just edit the Domain Name. All of the 1.4 stuff is already on here.

Not all. Only the stuff from before Jan 26. There's been a lot of activity since then. I mean like just edit the Domain Name. All of the 1.4 stuff is already on here.Couldn't you just add both sites together? I would be fine with duplicate projects, studios, etc with their own stats and URL.

Maybe you could keep transferring data from like one project to another? So each day one user gets all their stuff transferred over? I think that would be the best option

It would be really good if we could keep all that stuff. It'll be bad seeing some good tutorial projects not having a single thing on it.
