Rename the "Follow" Button
I feel like the follow button should be renamed. First of all, it just makes people think that followers = fame. That's not the case, followers only mean that people want to be updated when the user releases a new project (I mean, that's what I use it for at least).
A “Keep me updated” button in place of the Follow button would likely be a better idea and discourage the concept of followers = fame, hopefully lessen spam by asking others to “follow”, and F4F spam as well. Thanks for reading, and please provide constructive posts, not just no support/support.

Rename the "Follow" Button
'Follow' seems to be the word of choice for social media websites, tending to make people think that the number of ‘fans’ you have reflects your quality as a scratcher and even person. Great suggestion!

Support! F4F is really popular, and fame is getting in the way of people making “quality” projects.
I agree with stalk :P

Support for the term watch, however it might make it slightly less clear as to what that blue button does than the term followers.

Support for making it “reportable”. I feel like the follow button should be renamed. First of all, it just makes people think that followers = fame. That's not the case, followers only mean that people want to be updated when the user releases a new project (I mean, that's what I use it for at least).

Rename the "Follow" Button
Support. This will get rid of the fame problem (hopefully), and will stop follow for follow.

So then followers would be “People that are being kept updated” and following would be “People that are keeping me updated”? A bit long winded…
I say don't fix what ain't broke.

I don't think it the name should be “Keep me updated!” because of this reason but renaming to “friend” is a good idea so there wouldn't be as many comments asking for follows.

Semi-support. I don't like “Follow”, but at the same time “Keep me updated” is a little bit long.

Although we all do it, we shouldn't worry about followers so much - maybe this would make people stop doing that.
But saying that griffpatch has over 42,000 friends seems a little bit… odd?

EDIT: Wait, I think I might know why the ST changed it in 2.0-people might complain that they have no “friends”.

Honestly, “keep me updated” is a bit long. Maybe there should be a way that only the user can see their “updated” count. Plus, there is no one that is going to say
update 4 update
