I recommend you read this first, before you drop a post. Thank you!

Scratch Guard is something that could prevent a user from getting hacked from their own account. If the user is logged in from another (or unfamiliar location) it would send a mail to the gmail (account owner itself) a randomized code to insert so they can fully login into the account. A toggle on/off for scratch guard would be cool, for those who believe they don't need it.
Don't know what I mean? Let me go more into the detail. If the scratcher lived in the US and logged in from Japan, it would send a mail to the person about an unfamiliar login from Japan, where the user has to insert a code given to access the account.

Scratch Guard - Have you or someone else logged in from an unfamiliar location? This will send an email to you, giving you a random string of letters and numbers for you to insert for you to log in. Didn't log in? No touchy.
Enable {X} (recommended)
Disable { }

if disabled clicked wrote:

Are you sure you want to disable Scratch Guard?
{ YES } { NO }

if yes clicked wrote:

You have now disabled Scratch Guard. You can check again in your settings if you wish to enable Scratch Guard.

if disabled was on and turned back on wrote:

I am a bit confused on this - what would Scratch determine as an “unfamiliar location”?

Thanks for reading and I'll still follow this post,

Places they don't log in usually I know its not much of detail, but for example, if the scratcher lived somewhere in Canada, and they are in another location (US, China, etc), that would be an unfamiliar location
say [thank you so much for reading and following the forum post :)] for (2) secs

Oh, ok, so people lying about their location? That makes a lot more sense.

Your welcome.
Anyways, new users may just play around with the options and accidentally state that they're in a different county - in example, there's quite a few users who say they live in Antarctica but I'm sure they don't.

Also, this tracking system may raise a few questions concerning the Privacy Policy, for those who haven't completely read it:

Usage Information:
When you use Scratch, our servers will automatically store a limited amount of information about how you use the website. This information includes a number that identifies your computer (the IP address), which pages you visited, and what browser you are using.

Nice suggestion and I'll continue to be interested,

Ah. I understand! This would also make sense too, with scratchers not putting their real location, so I could imagine them having to log in a scratch guard code everyday. This however, was inspired by a game to prevent hackers here (which may have more sense in it https://www.toontownrewritten.com/help/toonguard

Support! I think this would be a good idea, just in case ^^ As Austin said, though, I believe there may already be a function similar to this? :0

Support. Whenever you log onto Gmail on another computer or location, it notifies you. It also has a feature where you can log out of other sessions on other devices, so maybe they could add that as well if they can?

Oh wow! I never knew google had that feature. If google has it though, maybe scratch can? It really stinks to see people getting hacked.

I'm kind of curious, how often are Scratch accounts actually stolen?

Honestly the most likely way for your account to be stolen I can think of is a person at your School seeing you enter your password, and using that. And if that's the case then this suggestion wouldn't protect you – they'd be in the same country, same town as you, it's not like Scratch can magically detect whose sitting at the desk!

Meh. Some support. I don't think hacking scratch accounts is a big problem. There is very little incentive, and people should have secure passwords. I think a better way would be you would be able to chose if you wanted Scratch Guard on, and it would use your ip instead.

Nice to see that you correctly censored personal information, i.e. IP addresses.

Well, concerning passwords - you don't have to be on the same computer to crack a password.

Support this post as well, but Scratch Guard should be enabled by default to ensure safety to all newcomers, who may not understand the concept. Also agreed with the fact that hacking Scratch accounts isn't a problem, but there are people who may hack for any reason.

No support. This would be a real pain, especially since there are many computers in my household, and also since I take my laptop on vacation. I really don't want to have to open my email just to log in. Sorry if you don't agree, but I personally don't think that Scratch hackers are the most important thing to avoid. What's the worst they can do? Get you banned? Delete your projects? Get your email address? How will they log-in to the email? Your password is supposed to be secure, right? I think that if this were to be implemented, I would need a toggle switch. Thanks for reading!
