Shout and whisper existed in early version of Scratch 2.0, but were removed for unknown reasons. It existed in this dropdown form:

[say v] [something] :: looks
[think v] [something] :: looks
[shout v] [something] :: looks
[whisper v] [something] :: looks

Shout is big bold text, and whisper is italic (not bold) text.

Support for this. This would definitely allow for more dynamic dialogue options and would be useful for many people.

Support, it would help for something like warnings or presentations.

I support this, because even though there are already plenty of “Looks” blocks, this would enhance many users' projects.

Support! It may not be exactly necessary, but they're interesting features that really bring the characters to life when voice acting isn't an option, and it would allow for very creative story projects.

The webcam features that the ST added to Scratch 2.0 were unneeded too, and yet they added them because they help make users' projects more creative. In the same way, the shout and whisper blocks are unneeded, but they could make users' projects more creative. Even though they have the same basic concept and action as the say and think blocks, they still imply something different and they still mean something different than the say and think blocks. It's not about whether blocks are “necessary” or not, it's about whether they allow Scratchers to be more creative in their projects.

It may satisfy most people's needs, but that's because most people have never used shout and whisper before. If they got the opportunity to bring their character to life more without voice acting in story projects, I think they'd use it and accept it gladly.

Please read the two arguments I made. Like I said, “it's not about whether blocks are ”necessary“ or not, it's about whether they allow Scratchers to be more creative in their projects”.

Why not?

The blocks have already been programmed- there is no harm in putting them in the editor.

I'm sure ST has a good reason for this, but until an official statement is released I don't see why we shouldn't be able to use bold text in our speech bubbles.
