Punishment for not reading the stickies
No support.
This is wrong! Why:
1. Why should people be banned for not reading sticky topics? Even know that they are important, doesn't mean EVERYONE has to view them!
2. Users on here are allowed to look at the topics they want and not look at the ones they don't want to look at.
No support, that's why I give no support! XD this doesn't make sense

Agreed. No support Instead of punishing people for not reading the stickies, why not just make the stickies more clear? They just look like normal topics now.
Some kids are just excited to share their ideas with the community without looking up obscure rules first. You're not “suffering”, and these people aren't “ignorant”. Cool it, and stop acting like this is some sort of crusade

I think is better a pop-up adviceing to read stickied topics when an user is reported by some related with reason.

2. Users on here are allowed to look at the topics they want and not look at the ones they don't want to look at.Counter for 2:
Stickies are a must read for each and every single user on Scratch. They detail what to post, what not to post, basic rules and guidelines, etc.
I support, but not for a punishment. Maybe a big orange notice, like the email verification one, reminding users to read the stickies? Maybe it can only be removed once the user has read the stickies?

No support for saying it must be read. People shouldn't be annoyed and overflowed with mail telling them to read the stickies.2. Users on here are allowed to look at the topics they want and not look at the ones they don't want to look at.Counter for 2:

They should get an alert and if it keeps happening then a temporary ban.

Are you serious?
No support because Scratch is a friendly place where we share projects, and not a place where we ban people for not reading the obscure details of every letter of the rules.Oh yeah. Right now the closest thing to a “distinguished” sticky topic is, well, a row of @@@@@@@@ signs: Instead of punishing people for not reading the stickies, why not just make the stickies more clear? They just look like normal topics now.https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/discuss/4/
There should be some feature that allows an admin to distinguish a thread. That way it can really stick out: Read This Before Suggesting Anything
Edit: Btw there's absolutely nothing stopping you from, like, not clicking on threads that you feel are spammy. You're under no obligation to reply “Really? Read the stickies” or something like that either. Just report and move on.
I agree

Those are questings/suggestions that you are not allowed to ask, as they are impossible or rejected.

Punishment for not reading the stickies
I understand the concept of users needing to know about stickies, but they should not be punished with a ban. Instead, a kind alert/notification in their messages would help, something like this:
So, as a result, I give semi-support.
EDIT: Fixed colors mistake.
Hello Example_Scratcher,The linked post is just an example, not intending anything.
Your post here does not follow the guideline mentioned in a sticky, more specifically this one.
Please read stickies before posting in the forums,
Scratch Team
So, as a result, I give semi-support.

Why not just have a notice and keep them from posting anything until after reading relevant stickies? They would still be able to do anything else, just not use the forums until they read the relevant stickies. Actually, why not just combine the relevant stickies and make it pop up the first time they enter the forums, as well as why them have to read it?

If it pops up, they may just ignore it and/or exit out of it immediately. However, my solution to this + forcing them to read stickies would be denying them access to exit the stickies until 30 seconds (depending on the sticky length), so it could better encourage them to actually read the thing? No support. I think that all scratchers know the guidelines well enough to know if a topic is right or wrong. And trust me, I think that you have a good point that everyone should read the stickys before posting, but I think that maybe a reminder could maybe be at the top each forum page encouraging scratchers to read the appropriate stickys before posting, but I don't think that we should go as far as punishing those who don't.

I'm not sure if I've posted on here before, but I think a warning system would be better. Everyone always makes mistakes, but if they don't learn from them the first time (aka doing them again after finding out the first time), bad things happen.
