Ban Permissions
Support thisWhy not have a separate block on access to unshared material? That way, if a user does make bad projects, they he/she can no longer pose a harm while those who were banned for lesser infractions can still work on their projects. It doesn't make sense for the Scratch Team to allow banned users continue to have access to the Scratch server after an account has been blocked (this is to be especially true if the user was blocked for sharing inappropriate projects on the Scratch website) - you break the Community Guidelines, you pretty much forfeit the access to your account. That is the way it is on most other sites as well where you store your media. When users get banned, they have no access to any resources on the website, even their own projects. Does this seem fair?
There should be at least some degree of freedom while banned, such as the following:1. Access to My Stuff.
There is no harm in allowing banned users to make/change projects, just so long as they follow the community guidelines. This way, if a user gets banned, they can still access their unshared projects. They can't share, unshare, or delete them, though.

Problem is, he/she could still make trouble by posting mean comments, or replies.
If he could get to My Stuff, he/she can just spam a bunch of projects.

I support the first idea, and the second idea is ok too.

Ban Permissions
I support. I also have something else that they should have access to (keep in mind I've never been banned, so if these are already there, just tell me
)

- Access To Projects As long as it doesn't include cloud variables, they should be able to access projects. However, they won't be able to comment on them.

1. Access to My Stuff.
…They can't share, unshare, or delete them {projects}, though.
2. Enable/Disable Commenting (on Profiles only).
…they can't make comments

It doesn't make sense for us to spend time to code something that caters to blocked users. If users wish to continue having access to the Scratch website (and therefore to the servers where they save their projects for free), they shouldn't break the Community Guidelines at all. If users wish to have access back, they will need to appeal their account block and show they are capable of following the Community Guidelines. Why not have a separate block on access to unshared material? Zero-Tolerance policy, I see. I understand that breaking the CG's by any means is a severe no-no, but…IMO, this is unfair: a user who is banned for one bad comment is punished just as severely as someone who makes dozens of insulting comments. At least I make sense when I say that users should not be punished harsher than what is necessary to rehabilitate them. I just want there to be a balance to the ban system: not to “cater to”, per se, but to restrict the use of the appropriate facilities, depending on the severity of the situation which is constituted by a level. Each level carries its permissions and restrictions onto the next level:
- Level 1: Mutes a user from commenting/post.
- Level 2: Cannot share, unshare, delete, or create projects.
- Level 3: Access to entire website is denied.
- Level 4: Perma-ban/IP ban.

We don't block users for one bad comment (unless it was very bad). We usually send notification first, then we block if the notifications are not followed. Other times, our mute function temporarily mutes a user for a period of time if our word filter determines if the user is being disrespectful or unconstructive when commenting and also gives notice to the user about their commenting behavior, then we block if the user continues posting disrespectful or unconstructive comments after the mute function is lifted.Zero-Tolerance policy, I see. Similarly, if a project is censored, it goes back to being in an unshared state and a message is prompted to the user to change the project to something more appropriate (unless the project was highly inappropriate in the first time, which results in a block right away). Resharing the project without making it appropriate results in a block from the website
Users are usually given multiple chances to follow the Community Guidelines, we block them if they choose not to follow them or ignore them. It isn't fair to us to give them access to their accounts if they're going to continue using it to break the Community Guidelines despite being given chances to not do so.

Ban Permissions
Okay, before I close this topic, I have two questions:
1. If you can't access your own projects after a ban, can the ST do it for you? Such as sharing them?
2. When an account is deleted, do all projects, shared and unshared, get deleted?
Look, here's the real reason why I suggest this: I'm banned on one account. I can't access those unshared projects anyhow. I emailed the ST a million times, denied everytime to be unbanned. So those projects, I can't remember how many (at least 5), are lost forever. It's unfair that I am following the CG's but I'm never getting that account back.

Ban Permissions
Um… cheddargirl, I think that there is a problem with this. If a user is banned and cannot disable the comments on his / her profile, then, this might happen, in order: It doesn't make sense for the Scratch Team to allow banned users continue to have access to the Scratch server after an account has been blocked (this is to be especially true if the user was blocked for sharing inappropriate projects on the Scratch website) - you break the Community Guidelines, you pretty much forfeit the access to your account. That is the way it is on most other sites as well where you store your media.
1. Users will start to think that the user was banned. THey will start commenting, such as “Hey, you got banned!”
2. Users that are not banned can always have access to the banned user's profile and comment.
3. Eventually, the word about the banned user can spread. This would become similar to “naming and shaming”, and it would be similar as if a user was publicized in the forums for something bad he / she did.
Naming and Shaming is not allowed on Scratch, and disallowing the banned user to disable comments can lead to naming and shaming, which makes the banned user publicized, just like when one gets “attacked” in the forums.
This is just my opinion, it is still up to you and the other Scratch Team members to decide.

Theoretically, yes they do have the ability to share (or unshare, trash, delete) projects. Okay, before I close this topic, I have two questions:
1. If you can't access your own projects after a ban, can the ST do it for you? Such as sharing them?
2. When an account is deleted, do all projects, shared and unshared, get deleted? Not exactly, they just become inaccessible (the ST has the ability to restore a deleted account for emergency situations ie. if it was deleted by accident or due to bug).
Look, here's the real reason why I suggest this: I'm banned on one account. I can't access those unshared projects anyhow. I emailed the ST a million times, denied everytime to be unbanned. So those projects, I can't remember how many (at least 5), are lost forever. It's unfair that I am following the CG's but I'm never getting that account back.Well, it depends on the circumstances behind this one account. If you got blocked before and this other account was an alt account blocked because was used to evade a ban, you could appeal for the alt account's ban to be lifted if you explain what the alt was used for. If the account got blocked for a separate incident, that really depends on what happened from this one account. It would be hard to say without knowing the circumstances why the account appeal was denied.
Now I checked the appeal messages from the last handful months or so and I don't see anything recent in the appeals message that looks like it's coming from you. My guess is that the incident you are talking about happened a very long time ago when the circumstances behind the incident was not the same as it is now, or something funky went wrong when you sent the appeal messages and we never received them.

Actually, this IS my alt account. My main one got blocked, however. Well, it depends on the circumstances behind this one account. I gave up on appeals messages after they became unreliable: they did not confirm my obedience. So I resorted to parental confirmation and for some odd reason my alt account (this one) was unblocked but my old one wasn't.
Well, I believe my questions were answered, and this topic is against the ST, so I better close this.
