An explanation of the "New Scratcher" status
Have you made any projects? You also need projects. You need to be active and post lots of comments. Also, 2 weeks is just the I've been using scratch for a month and i'm still a new scratcher minimum time to get promoted. Sometimes, scratchers can post 500+ posts and end up still in the New Scratcher status.
I know, i know, but I've commented a bunch! Its so annoying because my favorite game uses cloud
P.S. Does it have to do w/ sharing projects???

An explanation of the "New Scratcher" status
Five months and still being a new scratcher.
To get the righ count of messages in disucssion forums, do I have do I need to add comments such as “Well said”; “Good point”, “Interesting question, I look forward an answer.” ?
I understand that KPIs are better than Captchas for detecting spammers, … but KPIs also induce strange behaviours to humans … (Just see the financial crisis that has been caused by KPIs imposed on business managers …).

Well, you got the point of the preceding message.
By the way, did you create your image with Scratch, or you need another program to do that?
Thanks.

I am new here
Making the transition be a brief but hopefully significant ritual is something we've been thinking about for a while - and we may end up doing some refinements to what goes out on Thursday. So we'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on it.

An explanation of the "New Scratcher" status
When you joined the website, you may have noticed that your user profile says “New Scratcher”. If you haven't, it looks like this:
Anyway, you may find this annoying, because it has a few restrictions. Before making a topic asking how to get rid of it, please read this brief post about it.
Why it's here
The short answer is to prevent spam.
The longer answer is that a long time ago, the website had a bunch of bots create accounts and use them to cover the forums with materials that are not suitable for a website of this nature. The New Scratcher status makes it much harder for an attack like that to happen again. It also makes it much more difficult for real people (not just bots) to launch one of those attacks.
Restrictions
- Can't use cloud data
- Yeah… saw THAT.
Have to wait longer between posts
That too. - Can't edit posts
I'll try… - Can't post links to any non-Scratch site
That too. - Have to wait 30 seconds between comments
Even that.
How to get rid of it
I knew the criteria on the old website, and it involved the amount of time you were registered, the number of projects you had, the number of comments you had, and the last time you visited the forums. In order to prevent this information from being abused, I am not going to list the exact numbers for each. On this website, I think the criteria are very similar, but may have a few changes.
Just be active, post constructive comments on peoples' projects, make projects, and generally be helpful around the site, and you will eventually find a link on your profile that says “Become a Scratcher”. Click it, and you will be promoted.
Any questions? Just reply to this thread!
Please notify me of any incorrect/outdated information!

You don't need any posts! Back in Scratch 1.4, you needed to get one post, but now, in the 2.0 times, you don't need any posts! How many posts on the forums does it take?

An explanation of the "New Scratcher" status
I was a New Scratcher and I've just became a Scratcher.
For those who ask themselves how to become a Scratcher, just do the following: be respectful, constructive, give credit, and help keep the site friendly.
This seems quite normal to do that, but this is the basis for this community to be a creative space for children that is open-source (all code are shared), open-minded, open-money (i.e. no financial pressure/competition), …
Thanks a lot Scratch team!

That is what a scratcher should be, so why should mean people get scratcher for being on scratch?

Mean people can also be active and post lots of mean and nasty comments. But that counts as being active though…. That is what a scratcher should be, so why should mean people get scratcher for being on scratch?
Anyways, a mean person, scratcher or not should always be reported.

An explanation of the "New Scratcher" status
I have been a Scratcher for a long time now. Here's what I did before that:
-made lots of projects (simple, but nevertheless projects)
-said a few things on the forums
-commented on other people's projects
In short, I was an active member of Scratch.
I became a Scratcher in 2 weeks.
If you are still new to Scratch, I reccomend you do these things.
Unfortunately, I can't help you if you have not become a Scratcher after 2 weeks
I hope this helps!
Also, please join the warriors of Sun and MoonClan! See the project Warriors of Sun and MoonClan Rules and Signup for more details.
