It's a beta editor - aka: it's not finished yet, and it still has bugs and missing features. That includes the bitmaps features which are to come later.

They're going to make it so you can use both the new vector and the old bitmap editor. Check it out here.

You can make it look the way you want it to! And don't think of it like it's drawing with a pencil- think of it a two-dimensional clay. Fill in the back? Make a giant square.
