A mute button?

Could you make a button that mutes Scratch projects? I like listening to other music, so I end up not viewing the music-playing projects. Or at least a volume control? Thanks.

Yeah, same here. Maybe a master volume for Scratch? Scratchers almost never make these things themselves…

Yeah. The problem is that Macs only have master volume control and Safari generally does a better job playing projects. Now, I'm sure there is a case of a Mac that doesn't run it well, but the Mac I use is fairly new. Most of the Microsoft computers I use don't support online Scratch as well…

Although in Windows 7 you can mute specific apps (which is what I do now), this will still be helpful. Support.

Well, why not change the volume? There's no reason that you would want to not hear the project, but hear something else, is there?

I dunno - when you add a special mute button, that means that some amount of people will hit mute and then forget about it, and then get stuck going through their system settings trying to find the problem, and never unmute.

It's interesting - most posts in this forum are about increasing complexity. Few people seem to realize how much of Scratch's success is due to its simplicity. If we accepted all 6 of the new block suggestions I've read in the past 5 minutes, and all of the other UI additions as well, pretty soon your Scratch screen will look like this:

You may be interested in more complexity now, but I'll wager that you came here and got interested because Scratch was simple, and didn't make you feel like you needed to understand 73 options and 42 new buttons just to make the cat spin around a time or two.

Same.

Anyway, just place the Mute Button next to the Fullscreen button. There, anyone can see it and not forget about it.

A mute button?

I sometimes come across projects where the background music/noise level is high and not always to my taste. A mute button would be handy to enjoy the visuals even if the sound isn't to my taste. Yes the computer has a mute button but it's an awkward key press and maybe I'd rather have other sounds playing. So thinking a project mute and/or volume control would be nice.

yes. I've been barking up that tree for too long. I even have a free volume control sprite for scratchers to use, but not enough of them have taken advantage of my offer. Honestly it angers me very very very deeply when I'm unable to control the volume on a rather loud project, and I immediately skip over it. No love its, no favorites. Nothing. And I don't even care about the reviews or ratings. I will not have my speakers hijacked.

Support I have a very loud project and at least nobody has to make a custom block.

This is the project I was talking about: http://scratch.mit.edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/projects/10427284
